Seems like they need to offer some M Performance curb feelers, although based on some of the pricing of that stuff they may be more expensive than the rims

They'll look like the wings from an F1 car, tilt up as you initiate a turn then down as you power out for added downforce. Flip vertical for air braking under heavy load. Made from CF and tipped with diamonds for actual curb contact. Port installed $30k.

Wasn't even going fast, 5 mph maybe. I was pulling out of a wash and there was a curb I couldn't see on my right. If i was parking rather than trying to move forward it wouldn't have been nearly as bad. I guess this is the difference between having your foot on the gas rather than the breaks.

I was talked into tire & wheel insurance when I bought my '14 M235i. Cost a couple hundred bucks at the time. Since then I've had 1 blown tire and 2 scrubbed rims repaired (the rims were done last week). The deductible each time was $50/item. I think a Pilot Supper Sport is around $350, so the ins has more than paid for itself.

These types of outcomes seem rare?

So many tears. Car is barely 2 weeks old. Two scuff marks on the rear passenger wheel. Small though. I can deal with it, but still sucks ass.
Same thing happens to me it seems...On my 2015 235xi, I curbed my rim at a drive through atm just like you I think the second day of ownership..And I use the atm oh, once a year it seems.

Oh well, get it repaired and move on. 1st world problem.

Well yes. Otherwise, like he said, the insurance company would lose money [if that was typical]. I've had mine almost a year with no blown tires and no damaged rims. I would think this is closer to the norm.

I'll get a quote. Problem is there are no new wheels that match. I got the last 4, 50% off. Now I see the folly of doing that. The damage looks cosmetic, and they are my winter wheels. So, if there aren't any real issues and if I can get it so I don't cringe every time I see it, it should be ok. Still pissed though.

Good idea if someone could find Orbit Grey touch up paint... I have a tiny scratch on one of my wheels, I haven't been able find the official color. I'm about ready to try and match it with DupliColor paint.

If you know the BMW name (German) for the color or the BMW color code you may want so see if Quik Touch carries it..

Thanks for the link. I went to O'Reilly Auto Parts and picked up Dupli-Color touch up paint this afternoon. I took several of them outside to match them to my wheel. Of course you never know how the paint will look until it dries on the actual surface of what you're painting. I'll report back when I've tried a test patch.

I was able to find Ferric Grau I and Ferric Grau II colors on the quiktouch site so the people with Ferric wheels are in luck. Unfortunately no luck on Orbit Grau. I'll try my touch up paint soon.
