AFE intake piping touching coolant line problem.

Hey guys

Anyone running an AFe intake or any other having a similar issue? The pipping is touching the rubber coolant line.

Any solutions?

Thanks

Yes. Mine is doing the same thing. I just added a piece of rubber between the intake and the hose. I noticed it when I took the intake off for a service appointment. Glad I saw it before it caused a hole in the radiatior hose. Mine looks identical to yours.

What kind of rubber are you using? The hose gets pretty hot under pressure.

I'm worried it's also making my intake air hotter since its touching the intake pipe...

There's ceramic fibre tape that can resist the heat but have yet to find a vendor that sells it locally.

Care to offer these folks some helpful insight on how you installed yours so there's no rubbing?

It's a different intake. Same company, but the higher tier one.

No problem. Glad I found this thread since there was a possibility of rubbing.

Tbh tho guys, intake is just for sound, and from what I heard, all intakes sound pretty much the same (unless someone has tried different brands to do an accurate comparison).

For $500 for AFEs, I could get 2 BMS or other intakes.

Someone correct me wrong.

You pay for the quality. It's not for everyone. From what I've read the BMS causes the most problems and why would you want an open filter like that anyway. Probably losing hp with that one. At least the momentum is sealed and connected to your factory ram air.

Yeah it probably doesn't add that much HP, but it looks nice and makes the car sound a lot better, along with hearing the turbo spool and the DV whosh, lol.

It all comes down to preference.

I recently installed the BMS intake, no problems at all. From what I've heard, somebody talked to BMS and they said their first batch of intakes were the ones with problems. However, now they are good. I believe them because I am not having any problems now. And I'm not sure why you think you'd lose power with an open air filter, dyno shows gain of 10-15hp with BMS Intake. Just thought I'd share my information

I've tried both and have to say the AFE is worth the money. For one, the BMS intake offers a plastic tube.. We all know what happens to plastic when it starts heating up. Second, with the AFE you can hear the turbo spool a lot louder. No comparison in my opinion

I'm worried the air through my intake is hotter cause the radiator hose gets really hot and my intake tube is touching the hose.

I havnt noticed any power loss though.

Alright man I'm just saying from personal experience nothing is wrong with BMS Intakes. I've experienced no power loss, no bogging, no slow starts, and most importantly no CEL's. It makes great noise as well.

Internal air temps are just about the same between afe open and the stock intake while driving even as slow as 10 mph. The higher IAT was in stop and go rush hour traffic. The higher IAT quickly goes back to normal temps once at highway speeds

I just like the look of the AFE Momentum. It's worth the price of admission to me. To each his/her own, right?

AFE hasn't got back to me yet it but is there any worry the hose will wear to the point it ruptures? That would not be good...
