I want to see numbers with the tune added to the base m240. If AFE wants me to consider their product, spend a few bucks and dyno the m240.... come on already.

What interests me the most about the AFE intake is the fact it is sealed in - thus closer to a real CAI as opposed to open filter in the engine bay.

It's the same issue with all the tunes currently available (Dinan, JB4, etc.). I have not seen any of the companies post the stock vs tuned dyno of the m240, it's always of the 340i.

Typically the non-MPPK cars will see more gains than the factory MPPK equipped cars like the M235/240. It's pretty safe to assume the M240 will show the same tuned numbers as the 340i.

Be careful with believing aftermarket manufacturer numbers though. They're always questionable. The gains AFE is quoting for their intake and exhaust is rather optimistic.

It is quite impressive the gains the B58 makes though. It takes an N55 a DP and JB4 or Dinan Stage 2 to come close to the numbers the B58 AFE tuner or JB4 are making. Great motor. Just hope it proves to be as reliable as the N55.

I'm curious...when I look at the fine print on the dyno results for the intake, I see the temp for the baseline was 16 degrees lower but humidity 18% higher vs the new intake.

What would make more of an impact on the modified results...temp or humidity? I am assuming colder temps have the potential to provide higher power output due to more compaction of air, however, what effect does higher humidity impart?

With these differences in test conditions, if all conditions were the same, is the increase in hp/torgue justified or would it be more or less?

The specific air volume in test 1 is 0.840 m^3/kg and in test 2 0.866 m^3/kg, so the expected power output in test 2 is 3% higher than in test 1. Overall this means that about 2bhp was lost by adding the intake, or more likely no difference if a reasonable margin of error is applied. Calculator here: http://www.sugartech.co.za/psychro/

New to Bimmerpost:
Had the Dinan Stage 1 Tune and the Black-Tip Free Flow Exhaust installed on 9/2017 for my M240i Xdrive. Been waiting anxiously for Dinan to release the Cold Air Intake and the Intercooler! Talked to a Dinan tech yesterday who said with additional R&D, the Intercooler my be unnecessary BUT the Cold Air Intake will be available in September 2018. Can anyone confirm?
Future Mods: Dinan Mid-Pipe, Carbon Fiber Spoiler, Wheel and Tire package.
