Muffler Delete

Guys I have been considering a muffler delete, both for sound and weight reduction.

Currently I have vrsf dp, and mperformance exhaust. I think that it sounds great, but could be a little bit more agressive.

My question is, the mperformance muffler is just clamped on, could I just remove the muffler and put nothing on to get an idea of what a muffler delete would sound like?

I know tube length, diameter, material etc can change the sound. Do you think taking the muffler off at the clamp and testing for a few miles would give me a close representation of vrsf or fabspeed muffler delete kit?

Is there any reason why I shouldn't do this? Potential flames under the rear end? I think most of it is heat shielded anyways. I've got the cf diffuser too so I'd be less worried about it melting.

ill sell you my fabspeed, come pick it up so i dont have to ship. Ill meet you at FCP euro or something in the middle.

The delete will get you more power, weight savings and be loud as hell. The pops and bangs will be the deepest and loudest you can get.

You will hate it, love it, than hate it, than love it some more.

If it wasnt for me having to drive 7 (NY to Philly and back) hours every Monday, i wouldn't have put a muffler on the car.

Running no muffler at all will be close to what it sounds like, but the delete has a bend which will influence a little. PPL run dumps all the time which is what you are doing.

Just be very careful where the exhaust dumps out when you remove the MP exhaust. If it dumps out anywhere near the gas tank don't do it.

Years ago I had a buddy that did this on another car. Melted the plastic composite gas tank.

It would basically be for start up, a couple miles around town, then maybe a wot run just to see what it sounds like. Just kinda worries about the flames as you mentioned.

Thanks, I'll shoot you a pm.

My car is "after work daily" and weekends. Basically I won't drive it during the week unless I have to run on errands. Then I use it all weekend.

I would hope that it sound like agressive and powerful. Not like the Civic cans that are loud as hell, but just sound like they are straining to make 100 whp. (No offence to Civic owners, just an easy one to pick on).

Another question.... I feel that many mufflers sounds very similar I figure this is due to low quality speakers and also they are all produced from the same engine so of course they will be simmilar.

Can anyone rank axle back mufflers in loudness/ agressiveness/ distinction

Ex. Loudest/ most agressive/ rasp

Just to name a couple

Mpe
M2
m2 mperformance
Remus
Dinan
Awe
Armytrix
Fabspeed
Gthaus
Agency power
Miltek

I have, there are just so many varriables. Mic quality, speaker quality, ambient temperature, car temp, car mods, etc.

I guess what I am looking for is pretty tall order.
