Sonax Wheel Cleaner as a brake disc/pad deglazer?
I recently used Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner for the first time. (Worked great.) As you spray it on the wheels it gets all over your brake disks as well, and they sure turned a vivid purple as the Sonax did its work.
The next day I noticed something odd. My Ferodo pads are now feeling much stickier in mid-pressure application. Still the same light initial bite, but more bite later in the application. It feels good. These pads have several autocross/track days on them, and a few months of street driving, and worked well throughout that time. I thought they were well bedded in, but maybe not? I'm speculating that I may have built up some glazing on the discs or pads, and the Sonax ate it away. Is that possible? Or am I just breathing too much brake fumes? Thoughts? |
