Vrsf intercooler help

So I watched a few videos of intercooler installs online and almost all of them have the fan sitting perfectly in the intercooler tabs. Is it possible I got sent the wrong intercooler or is does the fan just rest on the intercooler tabs without lining up or fitting in the tabs? I'm having trouble uploading pics but I will continue to try. It's the 5" vrsf intercooler and 2014 235i

There's an entire thread about this, it'll be fine just resting in the tabs unless you feel like busting out the Dremel and hacking away at one or the other tabs. It'd have been nice for VRSF to fully acknowledge the issue and offer some form of incentive to the people who received the "faulty 30" intercoolers they claimed were shipped.
