Farewell to the best car I've ever owned.
On the 3rd of April, when trying to turn left on a street in San Francisco, I was hit head on by a car going at least 40 MPH.
I walked away with banged up shins, some cuts on my face and a sore chest. The car however was totaled. I've been looking ever since for another estoril blue manual M240i to no avail. The new M240is really don't interest me, at all, even if you could get one right now. Thinking of replacing it with a M2C but that would incur like a $20K price jump. Now is not the time to have to buy a car, any car. |

Glad that car kept you alive.
Hope you can turn left again, soon (preferably in the car you want) and without your heart skipping a beat. Good luck for a quick recovery - in every way. |

Glad to hear you came out of it in what sounds like good condition.
Sorry to see that happened in my old neighborhood.

You walked away! That is what matters. As others said you can always replace the f22. You can't be replaced. Cheers to your speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear, but glad you came out of it with minimal injuries. As one other poster mentioned, don't be surprised if you develop some issues weeks after the impact. Our F22's and F23's are hard to replace, especially right now. From everything I read, the supply of new vehicles won't be much better until 2023 and even then the used stock will remain tight due to the supply issues of 2020 forward. If you find what you want and it's semi-reasonable in price, jump on it. It's a seller's market and will continue to be for the foreseeable future.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts, kind words and good advice.
I've looked 3 times a day every day since the accident, and damned if I can find a manual, Estoril Blue, 2018-2021 M240i ANYWHERE in the entire country. I found ONE new 2022 M240i, but I would be buying my first manual transmission car in my life and I honestly think mine looked WAY better. Or I could get a 2019 M2C for more than it's MSRP back when it was new. I figure if I can't have the EXACT car I picked out and waited 9 months for (Estoril Blue is my all time favorite BMW color by a mile) than YOLO and get the M2C. Then I think for $10K LESS I could get a new M240i, with full warranty, allegedly as fast as the M2C and something more appropriate for a "man of my age" with the cushier ride, automatic etc. Really I just want a time machine. |

Is the 2022 an xDrive? You said it would be your first "manual transmission" car. Did you mean automatic transmission?

Option 1 - the "YOLO" car. 2019 M2C $66,998
Pros - YOLO, best driving car I've ever driven, love how it looks. Cons - all cost related. out of warranty, expensive repair costs, insurance, not Estoril blue my favorite. Option 2 - Used (1000 miles) 2022 M240i - $54,000 Pros - full warranty, allegedly as fast as a M2C, pretty blue Cons - no manual, no hand brake lever, no soul Option 3 - Used 2020 M240i $46,999 Pros - 1 year of warranty left, lowest price, can put my BEYERN RITZ wheels on it Cons - not Estoril blue my favorite, people will think it's a M2. |

Best wishes on your recovery...that HAD to hurt.
As for your 3 options, you didn't mention # miles on choices #1 or #3....I'm not a fan of lastest re-design. For a $20k savings, assuming reasonable miles and "clean" inspection, I'd "vote" for the 2020 M240....Good Luck with your decision!

Glad you're okay.
Look at it this way, the car sacrificed itself so that you could walk away. I know you're stuck on the color, but no reason after some time, that you can fall in love with another color. Just give it time.

Option 2.
Option 1 is just too much $$ even though YOLO Option 3 would be my second choice, but I'd go with the newer model with a better motor, tech, and warranty.
