BMW will tell you no, ZF and indy shops will tell you otherwise. Had my filterpan and fluid changed at ~65k at my indy shop.

I used FCP Euro. And if you ever need to do it again, their lifetime warranty is attractive as to do it you need to get a new pan and fluid.

It's not hard to do but do watch the YouTube and FCP videos to be sure.

I did the fluid in my 6MT at 50k miles. I'm going to do the diff at 60k as well; it's easy to forget that part.

Nothing radical. People said switching from OE to RedLine might change shift feel, but for me personally I felt no difference. However, my gearbox was developing a tendency to grind on the 1-2 shift as many have noticed with the GS6-45BZ. Switching fluids seemed to lesson or eliminate this effect, but I've also been more careful with gear changes from cold since I noticed the grinding, so it could be a result of my caution.

Regardless, I think it's worth doing fluid changes around 50k miles for the trans. I don't have a ton of experience with RedLine, but I've like what I've read and had a positive experience with RedLine MTL.

Yep, that's the fluid I used. It took less than 2 bottles. If you're planning on track duty, look into MT-85 or MT-90, which is a similar formula but 75W-85 and 75W-90 viscosity. Others on the forum have used D4-ATF, but I'm not a fan since it seems to offer less protection.
