Wall Street Journal's 230i review today
The article below is from Today's Journal, 21 May, 2022. His logic behind his recommendation of the 230 vs. the 240 is somewhat similar to why I chose my 230i in 2018.
Ben Sanford The 230i Coupe, a core model from BMW’s redesigned 2 Series family, is affordably gorgeous—and just sporty enough, says Dan Neil, who is here to talk you out of unnecessary upgrades. https://www.wsj.com/articles/2022-bm...ew-11652987717

"The 230i—rear-wheel only, with a four-cylinder engine—weighs 352 pounds less than the M240i" For driving enjoyment, I think that's what would attract me the most. The $36K price tag doesn't hurt, either.

That's OK. It's been a useless newspaper since '07.
From what I’ve heard elsewhere, it’s the same basic idea as the Jalopnik article from years ago preferring the 228i over the M235i…enough power with improved steering feel, handling, and more “tossable” due to less weight over the front end. This concept is usually not well-received by those who believe maximum power and exhaust noise are the top two priorities.
