"Is there anything special you need to do in terms of driving behaviors to break it in? I've read that doing a bunch of figure 8's is helpful." ...

I read that too.... no doubt this will help the clutch packs seat but there is also the ring & pinion gear set that must mate together to wear off any high and low spots.... This won't occur with anything but miles...There is a thread "BMW M235i M Performance LSD - Pricing and Technical FAQ" where someone posted a BMW FAQ recommendation of 500 miles of moderate driving with equal amounts of right & left hand accelerations...This is also what the installing BMW dealer recommended so I'm going with that....

It was definitely more of a beating than I expected. Running 6 #2 nozzles via fsb/jb4 over a BM3 flash and spraying boost juice. It took all weekend so I haven't played with it much but seems promising. Not sure how much additive boost to go for over the flash so starting low.

Today I decided to stop worrying and love the auto rev match. I coded it off because it’s irked me to have the car doing things for me. Drove it that way for a week including a lovely day at tail of the dragon. The funny thing is that I can match downshifts to near perfection almost every time. But perfect upshifts are elusive. Unless I’m caning it I always seem to catch the engine ~200rpm lower than I should. Weird but consistent. My ego says figure it out, but my practicality says screw it. There’s something to be said for not having to think about what I’m needlessly doing to the clutch. I must be getting old. I’ll take my incoming roast offline.

I got used to the rev-matching feature in a hurry. And since I can't heel-and-toe this car to save my life, at the track I ended up choosing Sport+ instead of the much more desirable (to me) DSC OFF – just to keep the rev-matching.

It's all good – make the car what you want and need it to be, accept that which you cannot change (if you can), and enjoy the heck out of what I think is one of the more underrated cars out there.

Totally with you there. I bought it about 9 months ago wanting something thoroughly fun that would still work as a daily. Not the least bit disappointed with that decision. I could have spent more on something else but I don’t ever find myself wishing that I had.

Recently went full BM3 stage 1. In love with the gains and the sound! Such a big jump from stock. Injen intake, BMS chargepipe, straight pipe exhaust and tune.

Next up is turbo inlet, fmic and catless downpipe then going either bm3 stg2 or stg2+.

Put M performance pedals, (knock off, $30) looks good, matches and took 10 minutes to fit, no drilling

Awesome. I had a similar experience when I first hooked up my JB4 and ran the least aggressive map. Then as I have added mods and now a little E85 it's cranked up a bit and it is nasty fast. Good luck on the next mods and let us know how it goes. Very curious to hear more experience with the flash tuning options like BM3.

Replaced the "Mickey mouse" coolant flange on my 2015 m235i that has just over 47k miles on it. Did it as preventative maintenance and it doubled as a coolant flush. The oem plastic was brittle and falling apart already on the inside when I removed it. Replaced with an aluminum version from fcp euro. (Bit of a pia getting pliers in there to decompress the clamp and get it around the hose and new flange, as can be seen by the missing paint on the clamp )

Did you replace the hose as well or just the flange? I'm planning on doing it soon and would rather not do the entire hose. How much coolant did you lose during the process (if you wouldn't have done a coolant flush)?

I used this video as reference (really well made) except he replaces the hose and flange. I only replaced the flange but I used the method in the video for draining the coolant, ended up having to add just over a gallon of 50/50 bmw coolant and bled the system twice. The hard part about not replacing the hose is getting the old flange out of the hose, what I did was first stuffed a towel in the hose so plastic particles couldn't fall in, I then used a large pair of pliers to crack the old plastic flange into pieces, and then It basically crumbled out of the hose. Then it was easy enough to work the old factory clamp off the hose. Also think it's smart to just do the flange, the hose seems high quality and not worn at all.

Cool, thanks for the tips. I was thinking about using one of these to clamp off the coolant hose under the flange.

Thought it would prevent further coolant loss and prevent broken plastic pieces from falling in.

If you scroll up a bit to my post previous to that one, there's a pic of the WMI port injection manifold I assembled from many small parts. The fsb is the burger WMI controller that integrates with the jb4. I'm running the BM3 100oct race gas flash and the jb4 to control the WMI.

Great idea, I also let the hose face the ground and drain any residual coolant from it, after I got the flange out (there wasn't much coolant in the hose but it did help rinse out any plastics dust or particles if there were any there)

How long start to finish did it take to do the job?

I have 80,000 on my 2014 M235i and think the flange and silicone hose is a good idea.

Very nice! I do plan on getting into e85 down the line!

Actually this was last weekend, but I washed, tarred, ironed, clayed and polished the car. Then a coat of Carpro CQuartz UK 3.0 on top.
This is the third application of ceramic coating (do it every 2 years) and I'm real happy with it. For a DD with no garage to keep it in the thing looks remarkably good.
