In response to your ending abbreviated question of Why is There Fuel, I would just conclude that the letter was intended for you and we were all copied on the correspondence...until it happens to us also.

My local BMW dealer looked at the car this morning and unsurprisingly confirmed they're replacing the gas tank due to a leak. I still can't get over the timing!

I haven't received the letter related to my 2018 m230, so apparently problem doesn't apply to slightly newer cars
