Which brake fluid is overall best for our platform?

Realized the hard way that motul rbf 600 isn't the best for our cars since it's too thick and causes a spongy pedal feel. Late model Bmw's and M-B prefer a lower viscosity fluid.

Which brake fluid do you all favor and why?

I went to the track a few time during each of the first two years I owned my car. I used Castrol SRF during that stretch of time. Bimmerworld explains better than I can why SRF was a good choice for my use case: https://www.bimmerworld.com/Brakes/B...ake-Fluid.html.

I'd just stopped going to the track when it was time for the car's biennial brake fluid flush. That was "free" at the dealer, where they put in this BMW brake fluid: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...id-81220142156.

The BMW fluid has worked well for me on the street, both on back roads and during a rapid speed reduction from 80 mph on the highway. With a 509° dry boiling point, I would guess the BMW fluid will do a good job unless you're going to perform repeated stops or slow-downs from high speeds.

I have been using ATE 200 and ATE Blue (bought a bunch when it was going away and have one qt left) for years in my E30, Mini and now the M235i. Never been a problem and cost is reasonable.

I flush the system once a year in the spring and don't track the car but have been known to have some fun once in a while.

For my cold Minnesota winters, I put in Pentosin DOT4 LV (for low viscosity). It's relatively cheap and available at many local parts stores. The BMW fluid is possibly better, but dealing with the little 355ml bottles is a pain, and either dealer or mail order. The Pentosin used to be cheaper, but with supply chain, that may not be true anymore.

For track/summer use, I put in Castrol SRF. I've used the Motul RBF 600 also, but the Castrol feels better to me (but that could be in my head), and definitely lasts longer.
