Battery: 94R-850 vs. 49-950

It's hard to believe, but my car almost 5 years old now.
Since it's not garaged and Florida's heat is very hard on batteries, I figure I should replace the battery soon as preventative maintenance.
So, I've been doing some research.
OE replacement is 94R-850
https://www.odysseybattery.com/produ...ttery-94r-850/
Optional (convertible?) is 49-950
https://www.odysseybattery.com/produ...attery-49-950/
I would prefer to use the 49-950 because of the higher CCA and Reserve Capacity; however I don't know if there would be any issue with fitment (1.5 in. longer) or registration.
A few questions:
Will the 49-950 fit, register and function without any modification or issue?
Some battery descriptions/specs include the note "with SAE posts". Do our batteries have SAE or metric posts?
TIA.

The longer battery will fit as the mounting bracket will accommodate either. And both batteries have enough capacity although the 49-950 does have a bit more. But it is also heavier. I don't remember how much heavier but it was not insignificant. Both can be coded with whatever tool you have and no special tools are needed for the swap.

There are some pictures of mine in this thread.

Thanks Rich, much appreciated.
I searched before posting my query but didn't see those posts you linked to.
The ODYSSEY 49-950 seems to be the way to go. I'm willing to accept the +6 lbs. in the trunk. It will get me a little closer to a 50/50 weight distribution.

Edit: FCP has it for $264, with free shipping. That's pretty good. I was considering waiting another year (6 years old), but may just go ahead and do it now.

You'll be happy with either one. I am a big fan of FCP Euro for lots of reasons, price and support being two. But get if from them and you also get their lifetime warranty. When I got mine from BattyMart their price was the lowest and free shipping. Not even close at this time.

Good luck and doing it now gives you another five years and some piece of mind.

I installed the Odyssey 49-950 (ODP-AGM49 H8 L5) battery today. It turns out the car had the larger 49/H8 battery in it, from the factory. So, I'm glad I got that one.
I registered it with Carly as the "same battery", because it was the same "series" (49/H8). But, I noticed that all of the specs (CCA, RC, etc.) were higher than the original, including 94 Ah, vs. 90Ah.
Should I have registered it as a "different battery"? If so, what?

A new batteries is registered to tell the intelligent charging system (ha!) that car now has a new battery. The ICS then uses a different charging profile because the battery is new.

Yeah, I'm just wondering if I should have registered it as a "different" battery because all the specs on the Odyssey battery are a little higher than the OE battery.

Why Register Battery

If you change Type (AGM / Lead Acid)

New battery 94ah & old was 90ah --- then yes

I use Autel MX808.

Thanks. That was my thought as well. If the registered specs are used as a charging target, then they should match the replacement.
Type is the same (AGM), but the new one is 94 Ah, vs. 90Ah for the OE. I think I'll go back into Carly and see if there's a "different" setting that matches the replacement specs and if there is, I'll change it.

Register & Code

When you get a new battery it is important to register the new battery.
.
Then, if the specs are the same -- you are done.

.

If the Specs are different then you need to Code the car for the specific change.
.
My old battery was 90ah and new was 92ah (no change / coding needed due to being within the range)

If my new battery was 94ah then I would need to Code the change.
