Sep '21 - Order confirmed
Dec '21 - Initial inquiry to Rogue about fitment issues after reading reports on the forums
Mar '22 - Send shifter back to Rogue for them to fix and receive a replacement
Apr '22 - Shifter installed by my mechanic with fitment issues then uninstalled to send back to Rogue for replacement
May '22 - Left the car with Rogue for 2 days and they fix the shifter

It was worth the wait. Good luck out there!
Unfortunately my journey has not ended and I'll be reaching back out to see if we can wrap this up once and for all

My shifter doesn't fit the same as OEM and my choices are 1) Push the knob down to secure it, but then feel the shift knob disconnect entirely during a shift 2) Leave the shift knob as is and deal with it fitting loose

My experience will be different than all of you because I brought the car directly to them and don't know exactly what they installed but I thought it would be worth mentioning anyway.

EDIT - I was able to punch the knob down into place and it has been secured ever since, although its easy to pull it back up out of place.

Is that the knob or the boot? If knob, maybe the plastic insert is missing some teeth? I believe damage is a hazard of disassembly with that type of design. A cheap and potentially messy fix is a small amount of glue, instead of buying a new knob assembly.

Now I need to find a shop that will do the install. Using bimrs.org, several shops said that they only do OEM work and one said that they would charge me 7 hours of labor.
Interesting, my new one was all metal.

Shifter continues to feel amazing, but I have noticed some additional noise during shifting and when getting on the accelerator. The latter sounds a bit like a whine or high pitched vibration, though not one I can feel, only hear.

Here is a video demonstrating: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HxB...ew?usp=sharing

The shift is much more audible than prior, around 8 seconds and 13 seconds. The whine or high pitched vibration is most pronounced around 10 seconds.

I was expecting additional noise with the SSK and rogue transmission mounts. Just want to make sure this is similar to what others experience and not indicative of some type of issue.

Hey, I just finished the install! It was difficult on jack stands but not impossible without dropping the exhaust and transmission. The most difficult part was the rubber boot isolating the cabin IMO. I think that's where I started bleeding.

I also noticed a higher pitched whine. It's only audible with windows rolled up, first gear is loudest and subsequent gears are quieter. Is that normal? Sound seems to come from the transmission area underneath the cup holders. It's definitely something you can live with though.

A slight harmonic hmmm/whine is definitely normal with anything like this. The stock transmission mounts soak up tons of feel, noise, and vibrations.

That rubber boot is so tough! Forgot about that part

I had the SSK installed and it feels great, but the lever is not aligned properly.

I didn’t have the SSK installed right away because of multiple reports on this forum of misaligned levers. I moved forwarded with the installation only after exchanging levers last month with Ben of Rogue Engineering. The SSK and transmission mounts were installed yesterday by a local shop recommended by Ben. The friendly people there took about 3-1/2 hours.

The feel of the SSK is solid and there is very little play. It’s a bit heavier than my old Miata, requiring a little more force to engage but that will probably diminish over time. There is not much NVH, but I can hear a touch more whine from the gearbox which I kind of like. The shop was impressed as well, informed by their many years of upgrading and modifying lots of fast cars.

Unfortunately, as shown in the photograph, the lever leans to the right while in neutral and really should be where the 1st to 2nd shift is right now. The shifter boot pops out in 5th gear as shown, but there is no problem with the boot while in reverse.

The lever does seems correct in the fore-aft direction; it’s upright while in neutral as expected.

I’m waiting to hear back from Ben for a remedy.

I think I ran into a problem with the updated lever. The "pivot ball" is sliding up and down on the shaft freely. I thought the ball came out of the socket but everything still is attached after further inspection. There is a metal washer stopping it from lowering past a certain point so it only rises past the original point (ball does down).
You can ignore the previous post, I must have really knocked it out of position.

Edit: On further inspection, and comparing to a picture of the original. The locking washer clip above the ball seems to have risen past the original groove. I was able to push it back to the original position to eliminate the play.

Note to others: Don't knock your shifter too hard from the top when trying to put your knob on!

Qty 2 M235i SSK's and Qty 2 M240i SSK's available

I just messaged with Ben at Rogue Engineering. They have parts available to make qty 2 M235i and qty 2 M240i SSK's. I'm purchasing one of the M235i's. They are not building anymore of these afterwards. If you want one, contact Ben Liaw at 201 783 8600.
