I have a set on order. Having been a product planner at an automotive, I am fairly confident that these will have a beneficial effect. Basic product planning is to launch year one with the "best foot forward", year two is stable as engineering changes from launch year are made, and awareness/volume continues to build. But, it is also product planning 101 that cost reductions should be found and typically start mid-way through a cycle, such as year 3. For them to add cost and weight with "unsexy" parts in year 3 tells me these parts are addressing a concern and should make a noticeable difference in vehicle NVH.
Have you received and installed? Any difference noted?

Looks like this was spec'd on the F22 and they can be found in Europe.

I saw the same parts explosion at a US dealer. The correct part is the panel, not the frame, for item #5.

I used the part number that Sportstick found, when I went to the dealer to purchase the part, the invoice showed another part number which was cheaper. I don't know what happened.
If I were you, I'd look back in this thread and write down the two part numbers, then contact a BMW dealer parts department. They have a more comprehensive database than the ones you'll find for online purchase.
I find that the cabin is indeed more quiet with the seals, it is a cheap upgrade and easy to install yourself. Just make sure you check out the pictures to know where to start the installation. I think it does decrease wind noise as well because it seals where air was previously forced up from inside the door frame over the mirror assembly, this is where I had heard air noise in the past. It obviously won't stop air noise from around the top of the windows. This mod seems like a no brainer to me.

Certainly won't hurt! For $49 in parts you can install yourself (I later realized), it's a low risk gamble. One would think, at least with the top closed, the difference should be perceptible.
Awesome. I'm going to order that ASAP. The links in the post should get me what I need from getbmwparts.com correct? Or is there a preferred place to order?

Let us know if you detect any discernible difference in road noise after you install the weather stripping on your convertible.
My 2016 M235i xDrive ragtop has a production date of Sept 8, 2015 and is missing both right and left weather strips (pic below).

I was able to purchase a set of the less expensive seal, side frame pns 51 48 7 348 779 and 780 from getBMWparts, ask for Jason. The parts were sent in from Germany and cost $9.30 a side plus shipping and handling, the total was $34.50. This is appears to be a simpler design than the more expensive seals shown earlier in the thread. These do not have adhesive but instead are more of a molded dense foam with a groove that slips over the inside of the inner fender lip nearest to the body and is held in place between the body and the fender by pressure.

The install took about 20min. Since they didn't come with any instructions you need to determine how to slip your fingers in around the door/fender openings and how the molded lip fits around the fender. Once that is figured out it goes very quickly.

Verdict: car is quieter, mostly from engine compartment noise...a slight decrease in wind related noise. Nice mod for the $35.

Here is link:http://www.etk.cc/bmw/EN/search/sele...50/51487300693

Car: 2015 M235 production date 9/14, no seals on either side.

If you want a quieter cabin then they are worth the price since they are so cheap. Some people want the engine noise louder in the cabin, in this case don't do it.

Real oem lists them on diesels in Europe but not on petrol so as already mentioned it's there to stop the engine noise by the looks of it, but it does list them on US spec 228i but not on the M235i

Placed the weather strips about a week ago. The Austin dealer had no difficulty ordering & the parts were even state side. They were a pain to install but still only took about 20 mins. They have maked a small to moderate difference in road noise. Will definitely be nice to have on a long drive.

Weather Stripping Install on my M235i F23

So, I answered my own question of a few post back.
Can you install these on a F23, (convertible)?
Yes, you can. the install took me about 15 minutes.
5 of which was looking at the rubber piece, and the pictures of other installs here on the post. Then figuring out how to put them in. Once that was done each side took 5 minutes. Just get it in place loose from top to bottom. Once it is lined up I started pushing it in at the top and worked my way down. You have to open the door in between halfway and all the way open to use your fingers to push it in the opening. I used the end of a 12 inch wooden ruler to make sure it was seated properly. Don't use something pointed, like a screwdriver, it will go right thru the soft rubber.
Now I'll drive it and see if it is any different, quieter.
