Odd M240i driveline issue
I noticed an odd issue when my M240i is in sport or sport+ mode. When I accelerate briskly I notice something I can only describe as something in the driveline trying to “catch up” with the rest of the car. That is, as I accelerate the car briskly there’s a slight delay (0.5+ second) before the car “really” accelerates. I can feel a slight “bump” when this occurs. This doesn’t occur in “comfort” mode. Don’t even ask about “Eco Pro,” whatever that is. There are no other abnormalities. The car is out of warranty.
I scanned the car with bimmerlink and nothing relevant came up. |

Punching the throttle in DCT off or sport+ seems to rev the engine and there is a slight delay before the fun times happen on mine too. I think it's just air being compressed. This is honestly my first turbo engine (and it's a nice one) and I've come to accept there's weird behaviour going on vs natural aspirated. Last edited by freakystyly; 05-12-2022 at 12:21 PM.. |

Hmmm, your response has me thinking. Maybe what I'm experiencing is turbo lag, though it's a new experience. I'm making an appointment with my local, trusted indie shop to update the software.

If you are below 3,000RPM or so when going full throttle, then there will be some degree of turbo lag. Keeping it above 3,000RPM where the turbo is already spooled-up gives no noticeable lag.

That is really odd, I have only experienced most of turbo lag in comfort, sports and sports+ are usually pretty good at keeping rev high and turbo spooling. Especially if you experienced it in sports but not comfort.
Any tune on the car? |

In that case, Im gonna say, it might just be a coincidences, depending on where your car are in RPM.
In the past, I have noticed before occasion where the car are almost instantaneously responsive on throttle and some other time where it kind of lag, Im thinking this depends on the gear and rpm. Turbo car thingy lol |

Took him to my local trustee bimmer shop. The tech tried to update all the software but had a problem with a couple of items. Lag is reduced but still there. Next stop is the dealer.
