So i got a 6.5" VRSF competition intercooler for my car cause it was running hot but

Hey guys so i got a new VRSF 6.5" competition intercooler for my car cause the stock one was running hot but it's still running at 140-150 IAT's. Is this normal? It's also 95-100+ degrees out everyday i'm in Arizona.

Thank you!

Max cool does nothing for IATs, and it’s literally just for track use. You should be backing off on the tune, because IATs that high can cause timing issues, inconsistent throttle and loss of power.

interesting topic, but what is IATs?
she's running hot too, stock with MPE exhaust, outside temperature 40c, engine at 105c at low speeds and stops and most of the time 115c and drops to 110c when running over 90km/h.
coolant always at 105c

is this normal?

im not saying its a bad intercooler and i do not have any data to see what exactly is going (could be a bad install for all i know). Regardless of the brand +50 on an intercooler this size is high

Sounds like it’s his stock intercooler - he’s asking if the VRSF can help lower temps, the answer is yes.

If it’s the VRSF- then yeah, that’s extremely high for an aftermarket intercooler. Any logs?

Iat is intake air temperature- it’s the temperature of the air coming into the engine. The lower the temp, the more power can be made. I’m being very vague, but that’s the gist of it.

Assuming 100+ degree ambient temps, driving in stop and go traffic for 20+ minutes, and not using much throttle, then it's no surprise to me that your IATs are in the 140-150 degree range.

If you were using more throttle to move air through the IC and driving consistently at speed, then you'd see the advantages of an aftermarket IC, especially if you're running the car hard in full throttle, longer gear pulls.

If you don't ever drive hard, then an aftermarket IC is largely a waste of time and the stock IC would serve you better.

Can you do a log, and allow us to review it? 3-4th gear, starting at 25000RPM to 6500RPM. Above all, be safe!
