If this is removed from the car following some sort of problem, can a dealer detect that you've used it?

Nothing is undetectable. Given enough digging, data can be mined that will indicate a tune was used. Whether or not it gets to that point and the necessary resources used is a completely separate matter however.

Dinan, are you also releasing a Dinantronics piggyback for the m240i (B58)? And if so, will it provide more power and torque than the "Sport"?

Since Dinan is no longer an Steve Dinan owned company it seems to be affecting the new developments and launch of new products like the B58's Dinantronics Sport, the M240i exhaust system...

Yes and yes. Power difference in its stage 1 form will be minimal but it will be able to take advantage of additional hard parts down the line.

If things go to plan would be looking at a late February/Early March release. Hoping for a lot to go right so fingers crossed.

Answered in the other thread but this past week we had some test bench issues that put us a bit behind. Those were rectified over the weekend so the B58 SPORT's will be shipping before the end of the month still (Albeit barely).

Dinan_Engineering
There's more capital behind the company now so stuff tends to go through the system faster once its started. Still have the limitations of available development cars and the wild card of certain vendors but once its started the development/production process is quicker now then it was in the past.

I saw an update in the photos of the Dinantronics Sport tune. Now it seems to control 2 sensors instead of 1 ???

Yeah, some of the SPORT units are 2 sensor units. B58 is the first in the BMW realm to use 2 connections but there have been a few Audi/VW applications that went that route before it.

That's great ! What are the benefits of this ? Better performance ?

On some applications the single sensor doesn't yield enough benefit and will only give say a 10 HP improvement. However when coupled with the additional boost sensor it allows gains of 40 HP. Its only when used in tandem that this is possible however. On other applications like the N20/N55 a single sensor can get the bulk of the gains and the additional sensor only adds nominal gains, if any at all.

Got mine this evening. Install tomorrow. But won't get to test for at least 10+ days. My M240xi doesn't do snow days out of personal preference.

Alex, this winter has me wishing I still lived in Ft. Lauderdale. We had record snow here. We haven't seen this much white stuff since 1887.

But then again when I lived in South Florida I saw a lot of white powder there too.

we had a semi dry afternoon after three days of 50 deg F temps. Took her out for a run (M240i xdrive) yesterday. Now everything from here on is purely subjective.

She is a bit rear end happy when in race mode (6psi boost) put driving mode selector in BMW Sport+ mode. The power difference is noticeable especially in the area of torque. Kind of expected that. It's snowing right now (again). so no more taking her out for a few days.

Didn't get a chance to test her in Dinan Sport+ or Sport. we have test and tunes coming up at Firebrd raceway on April 2nd. I'll get some 1/4 mile slips on that day. Also have a SCCA Solo I event coming to the Idaho Expo on the March 13th. It'll be the first time out for this car.

Not sure if I'm willing to drive the 7 1/2 hours one way to get to the nearest dynojet facility capable of running an all wheel drive car for a dyno run.... I'd have to have a good excuse to go to Reno or Portland.

Would be nice to see an independent dyno before and after.
