Sunroof Pricing
My new M235i is on order, now I want to add a sunroof to the order.
So i dont have any bargaining power as I have already paid a 4k deposit so the deal is done. My question is does anyone have any idea what kind of dollars I should be charged for this, as I am still waiting for the dealer to get back to me with a price. All comments welcome and thank you in advance |

From the July Spec Guide/Dealer Pricing Guide the sunroof is
403 Glass sunroof, with electric slide and lift control, comfort opening function via car key $1,818 $2,000 $2,600 The prices are (MRLP* excl. GST excl. LCT) (MRLP* incl. GST excl. LCT) (MRLP* incl. GST incl. LCT) Given you are getting a M235i you're in LCT territory so the last price($2600) is relevant. That said if you see the quote you will see the first price ($1818) and the GST and LCT are added at the end. |

That's probably full list as they've already got you signed up. It should be just over $2k assuming that you got a good discount on the original deal. I recall my quote with and without roof was around the $2k mark.

We get so ripped off in Australia. I just did the maths.
From the sale of my car $16,871.08 goes to The Australian Government GST + STAMP DUTY + LUXURY CAR TAX Its outrageous....talk about double and triple dipping

I think a lot of buyers in the used area expect a sunroof, or at least value it when comparing cars without it.
I barely use mine, except to help vent hot air or just lighten up inside.

Yup, that seems to be the general belief and therefore sales pitch by most sales consultants. Probably true a few many years ago but with competitive new car prices these days v used car prices, mileage on used cars definitely the dominant value factor IMO. Like you said, most people do not pay much attention to nor use sunroof except for resale purpose and venting internal heat (windows would work too!!). I do not miss the sunroof in my cars and prefer to look at my roofline for now and not worry about what the next owner prefers

Not sure why people think it's an "expensive" option... It's $2.6k... The car is $80k... So really if you want it? get it. If you don't safe a little. Personally I don't think it's expensive, comparatively speaking there are many other "options" which are more expensive. It's not exactly easy to put a hole in the roof. I actually think it looks good with the sunroof vs without.

I went from a sunroof to none... and I missed it so much I had to get it in the m235. The quality of the BMW sunroofs are good as the roof slides underneath, not above (ala Merc/Audi)... much better for wind noise.

That was my concern as my old car had a sunroof and the wind noise pissed me off so I never really used it. Funny thing was it had a deflector at the front and if you held the deflector down with your hand the wind noise went away :-)
