Thanks. I have a deposit down on an M2 convertible (been a convertible guy from the start) but been getting mixed signals in the press and on blogs whether there actually will be a convertible M2 model. If anyone sees or hears more please post. Thanks

How do you have a deposit down on a car you're not sure will even exist?

(Genuine question; not rhetorical.)

Many dealers are more than happy to take your money. I know someone who put down a $1,000 deposit on a 2012 1M Coupe. The dealer kept telling him they "might" do another production run, despite the fact that BMW executives were saying "no no no".

With the 2er four door is BMW going to go with the Gran Coupe pricing strategy (more expensive than the coupe) or the sedan strategy (less than the coupe)? I know that might seem like a stupid question considering you just called it a gran coupe. The reason I ask is that if its the former the four door would be very very close to the equivalent engined F30 interns of pricing. For example: the current 135i starts at $39k. Given its a new car and is an M-Performance car lets say the new coupe starts at around $40k-41k. If BMW decides to go and price the 2er Gran Coupe (F24?) like it did the 6GC in relation to the 6 Coupe, then that would put the F24 at $42k-43k. The 335i starts at $43k. Granted the are all just speculative prices, but can you not see the problem? Pricing them this close together is just begging for the F24 not to sell well.

You know, the more I look at these pictures, the more I think that it looks too big to me. I wonder if that's the angle or something...

One thing I love about the current 1 series is that it is smaller than the E9X 3 series, and by a decent amount.

I don't think I will be interested in the 2 if it just looks like a slightly smaller 4 - the 1er was always unique in looks and that was one of the things I have loved about it

Well, I can't wait for the M2. I also sold my DCT 135i MSport - and bought a new 6MT 135i MSport..!!

There could be some things on the coming 2 Series that I don't care for, such as "stop/start", electric steering, etc. I am very happy with the feel of the current 135 in manual tranny, MSport form.

Same reasoning as you, putting fun back into driving.

In answer to your question about deposit my dealer accepted a $200 deposit on M2 convertible at a price to be negotiated but not above MSRP (no premiums for me by God) and fully refundable if car not made. Also entitled to first M2 convertible of dealer's allotment to my specs. Costs less than a big night on the town and fully refundable...no downside. I missed out on a 1M coupe by being too late...not this time if an M2 convertible is made.

Let me say even with paddle shifting the car is still fun....not as much for me as 6M/T but still a blast. My son has it now with a Cobb tune and it's nutso fast....I also thought about buying another 135i. or a 135is....but i no i would not be happy unless i buy a 1M or 2M....Had quite a few opportunities to buyh a 1M but ATM not ready to have another morgage to buy one..in a year i will be getting antsy...my 1991 105HP Mazda Miata has been keeping me somewhat entertained...Like I say...When you have a BMW you can go very fast.....because you can....with the miata they go very slow because that's all they can do speedwise...but they still handle. I no it will never happen but i wish BMW put a N/A 320 hp engine in the 2M...I love the linearity of a N/A engine...even though the tq down low is less than a turbo there is something to be said about how smooth they are...so i am also looking at a used M3 with the 8cyl.

AFTER THINKING MORE ABOUT THIS 350-370HP WOULD BE BETTER...lol

I wondering are they going to tweak something a little bit to make the hp numbers prettier now that A45 AMG/CLS is coming out?

Expect 340-350 hp in M version to compete with A45.

New pictures of 2 series

With all the news of the 4series coming out for sale, think I like the 2 Series better. Will wait until then.

Smile Waiting time

Hej guys, newbie here in this forum although not when it comes to visiting this great site.
There was an interesting observation I made the other day, and with regard
to waiting, I think I know when they will unveil the M235i:

03/13/13 ------> The photo shoot leak out on spot of the BMW 4 series
06/14/13 ------> The official unveiling of the BMW 4 series

When BMW went out to photo shoot the 4 series, they did it in the middle of the week, in the middle of the month. When they unveiled the car, they did it at the end of the week, in the middle of the month, on Friday.
With that logic in hand, I came up with this:

05/15/13 ------>The photo shoot leak out on spot of the M235i (fact)
08/16/13 ------> The official unveiling of the BMW M235i??

What do you guys think?
