What trans are in our cars?

I need a new transmission for my 2015 M235i manual. Does anybody know what trans is in our cars? And if so where is the cheapest place to buy a new trans?

Why did you end up needing a new transmission? What lead to the failure?

1-2 syncronizer failure. The most common problem with ZF GS6 series transmission. 1M, 335is, M235, F3X 3/4 series, and M2/3/4 have all reported cases of 1-2 syncro failures. Numerous automotive publications have noted grinding on high rpm 1-2 shifts in M2 and M4 cars on test cars.

If you have 6MT, I strongly recommend the following:

1) Avoid hard, high rpm shifts

2) Avoid hard and aggressive shifting until the transmission fluid is fully warm (about 10 to 15 minutes of driving).

If you add power mods, you're greatly increasing the torque loads on the transmission. You should be VERY careful with that 1-2 shift. The OP bought his car used and started having issues shortly after getting it. The prior owner likely did it in.
