So, I just ordered (4) Hankook Ventus R-S4 tires from Discount Tire (who does not carry them). They were $20 less expensive per tire than the web price on TireRack.

The real surprize was that the store ordered them from TireRack but used some distributor account or discount.

I really wanted the Ventus R-S4s but also wanted to work with my local Discount Tire Store. When I found out they could get them from TireRack at a 12% discount I was very pleased.

So, I should have a new set of track tires the end of the week. Went with 235/40/18s because Hankook doesn't offer a 35 series tire. Really wanted to purchase the 245s but it was an extra .8 inches of diameter on the rear and .6" on the front and I was worried about rubbing. The wheels are 18x8" with an offset of 42. I have been running 245/35/18s on these wheels in a square set up but thought it best not to increase the height of the tire too much and went with the 235s.

I am really looking forward to running these at the BMW HPDEs vs the MPSS stock tires I have been using. They should have much better traction and will last much longer.

My local independent didn't know that the Rack offers a discount to commercial outfits until I shared that info with them. The shop got much better pricing from the Rack than they were offered by their local distributor, at least for the tires I was buying.
