Musicar Sub Enclosure

Anyone own one of these. At $500 are they really worth the money. They do look like a quality product!

Contact Murray at Visual Ice instead, great product half the price.

I checked this sub enclosure before. One person said the color of the fabric did not match his trunk. I know that the Musicar pics of their product are slicker but the eBay pics of the Visual Ice pics make the product look pretty rough. Bumpy finish from the way the light hits it.
How does yours match your trunk and does it look perfect in reality like the Musicar one?

Mine is perfect, he custom made it for my convertible based on my measurements. If you'd rather use musical might be better dealing with someone in the US if you have concerns.

I have the Musicar sub enclosure. The fabric they use matches the trunk fabric perfectly. I was told that the enclosure was designed for a JL 10W3v3, but it will work with the other subs that are listed on their website. I didn't measure it, but I think the fiberglass thickness was somewhere around 1/2" to 3/4". It's built pretty tough. Plus it comes with a 4 conductor quick connect wire harness. It can be removed and replaced very easily. Well worth the money in my opinion.

Great posts as always.

What driver did you use with the enclosure? Thanks.

Sorry. I now see in another post that you are using the Focal Sub P 20F 8.

Yep, was the best mid-priced option in 8" size without spending silly $. For convertible 8" is all you can do without eating into the trunk big time. My F31 I have the same thing but 10" which is also a nice speaker. Both cars have identical systems otherwise and I prefer the convertible, wagon acoustics are weird and challenging.

I'd say even for a coupe the 8" is plenty.

Thanks again. Anything tricky about the wiring? I have an inquiry into Visual Ice. They say the terminals are already installed in the vehicle.

Nothing at all, just standard stuff. When I replaced my stock amp I prewired for in trunk sub so JL remote, remote on/off wire and signal. With that done installing amp and new speaker took all of 15 mins if that.

I had one in my M4 and it was a perfect match and looked like a really slick install. It looked so clean the dealership begged me to leave it in when I traded my M4 in for my soon-to-arrive M2C. I've already order a new enclosure and harnesses from MUSICARNW. I can't wait to install it. I'll probably try and sell my old4 enclosure.

Thanks. Congratulations on the new car. I'm sure you will love it!

How much trunk space do these enclosures take out of the trunk space? It's not easy to tell from the images. Thanks.

I'll try to post up good images in a few weeks when mine is installed. I can tell you that the enclosure in my M4 was perfect. It only occupied the the corner space and barely invaded the useable truck space.

Do you know if the trunk enclosure on your 235i is the same as the one in the 228i F23 for 2016?

If not, how did you do the measurements for such an irregular space?

Also, did Murray give you a figure for how many cubic ft the box is?

Go to www.realoem.com and enter the last 7 characters of your car's vehicle identification number (VIN). Hit enter and bookmark the page. Scroll down to vehicle trim. Then click on the icon for left trunk trim. Click on the part # (it's a link to see what other bimmers use the same part).

Just another opinion here, but I ordered the Visual Ice for my F22 and sent it back - nice price but IMO the quality was horrid. Looked like it had been laid up by a middle schooler. I had a Musicar in a previous vehicle, very well made. I'd definitely go Musicar over Visual Ice. I'm waiting for Integral Audio to finish theirs for the F22, otherwise I'd go with a Musicar. I have one of Integral's in another vehicle, superior to the Musicar or anything I've seen outside of a JL Stealthbox.
