Intermittent distortion from one speaker

Hi guys!
About a year and a half ago I replaced my M240's amp and speakers by a JL Audio amp and Focal speakers. A couple of times lately I had one speaker (passenger door) suddenly distorting like crazy. Once I stop and restart the car the speaker sounds normal again. It seems completely random, I'm not playing loud music or anything special. I can play the same song just fine after restarting the car.

What could it be? Maybe a bad connection in the door or at the amp?

A bad connection will typically cut the sound to the speaker. Pull the door card (interior panel) and the offending speaker to see if anything metallic has attached itself to the magnet. I had this happen to the wife’s Accord.
