What if wheel bolt torque specs are off

Just curious what you think if on a 2 series you drive with the wheel lug bolts at an incorrect 81 foot pound instead of the correct 103-105 foot pound?

Would you get any wheel hub banging or balance issues at high speed? or over a period of time is there a likelihood the bolts at the lower torque could loosen ?

Just curious as to why you wouldn't torque to spec They potentially will come loose if not tight enough.

I’m at work and realized yesterday I torqued two items incorrectly, my cars wheels- 20 ft pounds shy and the blades on my lawn mower- 2X the required torque.

I’ll correct it tonight.

But if bolt stretching or loosening are likely w/incorrect torque values.

Garage List
Only risk is the bolts loosening during motion which can cause them to be thrown and damage the wheel or body. If not on your vehicle then someone else around you. As long as it’s 2 of the 5 bolts, the wheel should stay centered and no vibrations. However, turns and maneuvers put added strain on the bolts that are torqued properly since they are having to do the work of 5 bolts. Just drive easy until you get the others torqued properly.

You'll be fine. Just drive it conservatively until you get it home and then tighten to the proper 140 Nm / 103.5 lb-ft. Always tighten them evenly in a cross-tightening pattern i.e. don't fully tighten one and then move on to the next.
