Results at Buttonwillow

Hot day (102F) at Buttonwillow with Speed District.

Mods are:
Brakes: EBC yellow
Suspension: M4 LCAs
Power: I/C, Jb+, sportcat
Tires: brand new Falken Azenis RT615k+ 235/40, 265/35

Time was 2:06.107. What times would be good for the 2 series???

I know in the current trim the car can get into the 2:05.xx range. With RE-71 - 100% in the 2:05.8xx range.

Corvette Z06 -2:00.xxx
Mercedes AMG GTS - 2:03.4xx
Mercedes GLA45 AMG - 2:06.0xx
There were a number of cars without transponders like the M2.

Also - video clearly shows why Audis are difficult cars to turn into track cars.
I thought I suffered with understeer - watch this Audi S5.
Other cars in the video are Porsche 964 911, BMW M2 LCI, Audi S5, S2000, Porsche cayman S, and the Nissan 350Z.

UPDATE: 1/26/20
Im just gonna turn this into a buttonwillow Diary

Personal best now at 2:04.7

The fastest 2 series ive seen is an M240i at 2.02.4. If you are on these boards please tell me how you did that - you have skills my friend.

Changes from last time - I added the F8x TS arms. Worked as advertised.. a lot more stability under braking and a little more feedback to the steering wheel.
I added 245/40-18 RE71R tires to the front. Definitely a tire with a learning curve. But obviously lots of grip and out gripping my 265/35-18 Falken Azenis out back.
Cooler temps aided power this time with temps at 63 degrees.
Lack of skill is costing me i believe about .75-1.25 seconds

I'm inching towards sub 2 - but next goal is 2:03s

I'd be curious to know as well. Low 2:06 already sounds pretty good to me. I've only done high 2:09 on 13CW in similar conditions with a M240i (RE-71r 235F 265R, KW V3, Pagid RS29, stock power). Even that 2:09 felt near the limits of that setup -- car felt pretty floaty and hard to control all the way between Cotton corners and Riverside. Actually, this happened just one lap later:

with cooler temps and cleaning up buttonhook and the entry into the esses will get 2:05s. but that seems far off the f80s/f82s. I think the top guys are getting around 2:00. Is there supposed to be that much of a gap between our cars?

did you track the car before the V3s? I wonder how much time that reduce..

I'm not too surprised tbh. The S55 stock makes almost 100hp more than our cars. Sure, the f80/82s are about 100lbs heavier, but that's like 3% more weight for 30+% more power.

I did a few times, but the V3s + camber plates was the first thing I changed. So, can't really separate the two, plus I was still learning as a driver. That said, I think the difference was 3-4 sec on Laguna and 3 sec on Thunderhill 3mi on street tires. I wouldn't read too much into it though -- most of that was just getting any camber to fix the stock understeer and improving the driver.

PM me next time you make it out on track -- I don't see too many of our cars out there. I'll be on Thunderhill 3mi this Sun/Mon and 2mi next Sun.

Although I have a 135i, at Buttonwillow I got a 2:04.5 with KW V3s, m3 front lower control arms and re71r 255 square. For power I had a Cobb stage 1 and dps. For brakes I had SS lines, endless rf650 fluid, hawk hp+ pads with stoptech slotted rotors.

That's a pretty good time. I think a good M2 driver will get around 2:03 -2:00 min time mark. So you are right there. thanks for posting up your time
