Power cut off to 12v ports after cut shut off?

How long does it take for the power to shut off to the 12v ports after the car is shut off?

I am running a dashcam and a 12v power source is plugged into the rear unit cigarette adapter ( behind arm rest and under rear ac ) and it will not shut off after I turn the car off. I waited for the lights to go out and it still wont shut off.

Does anyone know how long it takes? I don't want it to drain the battery, though I'm sure there is a fail safe built in to make sure if the battery is running low it will shut off everything so I can still start the car.

The sockets in mine turn off somewhere after 5 to 10 minutes.

Easy way to time yours. Lock the car, walk into the camera FOV, wave, and walk off. Come back later to see how many minutes later the camera shut off.

I believe the 12V sockets (the ones in the cabin, anyway; not sure about the one in the trunk) are on the same time-delay circuit as the HU after shutoff which, IIRC from the manual, is 8 minutes.

Mine don't shut off. I've had a dash cam run for over 8 hours once by accident as I forgot to unplug. I use a usb adapter and just plug/unplug when I get in and out of the car . Bit of a hassel, but have yet to hardwire the camera

Just to confirm, but does the car has a shut off switch to kill all power if the battery power is getting low, so you would still be able to start the car?

I want the answer cuz I want to know if I can/should leave a USB power thing connected at all times! (Yes, I know, the amps there must be minuscule.. but still! if it doesn't turn off...)

So I noticed that when I had my G37s I always left the dashcam connected to a 12v plug and it would start whenever I start the car - meaning, Infiniti sends power to 12v cigarette adapter when you start the car.....

BMW, the 2er in particular, sends power to 12v cigarette adapter whenever you unlock it or open the trunk - I noticed this when you first unlock the car or open the trunk before unlocking the car, it starts recording the moment you press unlock or open the trunk button.

So yes, it does cut off power, and starts it right up as soon as there is any action on users part with the remote key fob.
