Question iDrive presets cannot be saved

I'm having a lot of trouble storing iDrive pages into the 1 - 8 preset buttons. I really like the idea of storing more than just radio presets, but this feature doesn't seem to work correctly in my car. For example, I can save one radio station, but not another. I was able to store the iDrive performance display (HP and Torque), but some pages like the trip computer just display the "Cannot be stored" error message. Has anyone run into a problem like this? I thought the process was pretty simple: navigate to the screen desired and hold down a preset button to store in that location. Sometimes this feature works for me, but most often I get the "Cannot be stored" error. I also tried clearing out all of the presets by holding button 1 and 8. This cleared them, but the behavior is still the same when I try to save new settings in any location. Is there something wrong with my iDrive or am I missing something here?

I have had a similar issue trying to save a satellite radio station. I found I like sorting through my radio presets using the idrive wheel so I haven't tried again. I just assumed I was doing something wrong, but now that I hear someone else w/ this problem I guess there might be a bug in the system. Let me know if you hear of a fix and I'll do the same.

Often times you think you are storing the /current/ page, but really you have to store the /selection/ to the page you want.

Say the trip computer thing.
Don't OPEN trip computer and then try to store.
Get back to the page where you selected "Trip Computer", highlight it and THEN ask to store it.

That might help.
