So what do people use this "storage" bin for?

I am genuinely curious what use, if any, people find for the tiny hinged-top storage bin in the 2-Series console.

I guess it could hold a pen, but the ensuing rattle would drive me bonkers. Loose change would make the same noise. Maybe a parking pass? I really would have preferred an open bin to this shallow covered space. But maybe I just haven't figured it out yet. So what do you guys and gals use this for?

I just leave it open and put my sunglasses in it. No idea what else to do with it.

didnt realize there was a door on it in the 2 series.

can a parking pass even fit in there?

i would stick like a chapstick or a pen in there or something . maybe line it with something so it doesnt rattle around

The F30 (at least my '13) has the cigarette lighter adapter under that door too, so at least that's available on the F2x.

I keep my ezpass there when traveling but empty other wise.

It's an ashtray. That's why it pops out to dump your ashes and has a cigarette sized holes on the sides to put out a live one. Also why it's right next to the lighter. Not making this up, it's in the manual.

This, and only recently. I had left it closed until last week :P Had no clue what could fit, but leaving it open, my sunglasses fit fine - no rattle since I keep them in a MF bag.

As one person said it's the ashtray compartment; since I'm not politically correct at all I did order the "smoking package" and am going to use it from time to time

This. Cleaning cloth stops any rattles.
