It's against regulations I believe, since it's coded off for US models. Instead, the rear fogs turn on.
I have it coded on my car, however.

As far as I know BMWs have had this feature for years. You definitely have to be hard on the brakes. In my last car (e90) it could be coded out, but otherwise standard.
