M240i Exhuast Valve

Hello! Recently installed Remus non resonated catback and loving it! Except.. I have weird functionality from my exhuast valve. (I have seen the valve in 3 different positions. Closed. Half open. Open.) I have been considering purchasing a valve controller, but wonder how much of a difference the valve actually makes? Does closing the valve really quiet the car down enough to justify spending a couple hundred bucks on a valve controller? Would like to close my valves around coppers and when coming home late at night. All feedback appreciated

The Exhaust valve is initially open before starting the car but closes upon cold start. It then opens about 10-30 seconds later (haven't timed it) but doesn't seem to close again after that. This is in comfort mode. It seems like the valve is only there to quiet the cold start but then opens later and does not shut after. Is this normal functionality?

Sounds like it. The valve operation is different to previous version cars. Seems to be pretty much open most of the time.

Does the MPE have a valve like the stock exhaust? I see that it has a connector on the MPE just not sure if it controls it the same way the stock one does.

The MPE doesn’t have a valve.

The valve will open and close while you are driving too based on various conditions. So even though you only see it fully open when looking at the car while not driving it's doing more while driving. There are a few posts about the "purpose" of the flap floating around here on this forum. I know you said you aren't tuning the car but with some tune software you can designate the flap to stay wide open in different drive modes after cold start.

Oh okay! Makes sense. I thought it would be closed by default in comfort.
