Used Pricing "actual" thread

I'm not seeing a dedicated USED pricing thread, so let's see how this one goes.

Used pricing for CPO, BMW Dealer, non-BMW Dealer, used car lot, craigslist. CarMax quotes also.

Mine is:
$20995 (no haggle pricing, but on sale from $25k)
2015 M235i Auto Convertible
25k miles, very good condition
White, black leather
Premium package
upgraded HK stereo, Nav
misc other items

BAD: missing rear headrests, net for trunk, mobility tire kit (all replaced) I assume original owners took out headrests for visibility and didn't turn them in with trade. Used eBay pair for $180. Some curb rash on wheels. NO BACKUP CAM, really, in 2015??? I wired my own with front and rear cams, small monitor in 2nd cup holder mount.

From Acura lot, was trade for new Acura SUV

PPI was great from BMW dealer 3 blocks away, Service Rep knew previous owners and advised they were meticulous. Printed life service records for car at their dealership. Owners had replaced tires with +5 on tire height to protect rims.

Very happy with car. No problems surfacing.

"NO BACKUP CAM, really, in 2015???"

The drama. It's so tough to use the mirrors and actually put some work into backing up these days.

I drove UPS and delivery trucks in college. I can backup just fine.

BUT A F'IN KIA RIO HAS A HIGH RES BACKUP CAM. That was just the ultimate cheap out by BMW. Like charging for CarPlay, another fail that they got called on.

They have still not learned and are trying to squeeze every penny. Last pride in package they put out was the E30. Over engineered and competitively priced to the competition.

They continue the drama.

I’m glad BMW is still one of the few manufacturers where you don’t have to take options you don’t want. I deliberately ordered our 2017 M240i to avoid most of the electronic options that many cars on the dealer lots had. No nav, no backup camera, no collision avoidance system, no CarPlay, no Comfort Access, etc. I don’t want or need them.

*bump* to keep this useful thread going instead of turning into a debate that doesn’t help anyone.

It would be outstanding if former owners who traded their cars back to the dealer could give us some insight into what they got. Any lease buyout/turn in info that would assist hopeful future owners would be great, too!

Didn't trade my car in but got an offer from Carvana of $34,812 on my 19' M240i xDrive with 20k miles a few weeks back. MSRP was $53,180 and I paid just over $46k for it new. I was actually surprised at the offer as I thought it was reasonable. Hope the info helps.

So get this 60, got an email from Carvana saying values were rapidly increasing and I should submit my car for an updated appraisal. I did, and got an offer of $38,194. That's almost 3k higher and well over what I owe. I just couldn't pass it up so tomorrow I say goodbye to my much loved 240. It's been a great all around car but looking to fill my garage with something a little more focused.

That’s an ideal situation for you & great info to know. Sucks for those in the gently used buyers market, though. What’s next for you?

Good question. I don't think I put 500 miles on the M240 last year. The wife and I work from home and we take her 19' X3 out when we go out. When I got the 2 I was commuting about 85 miles a day pre COVID. The 2 was a great all around daily. It checked all of the boxes.

But, now that I only drive it once in a blue moon, it just doesn't feel that special anymore. Sure it's fast and comfortable but I would love something a little more sharp and RWD.

I've been looking at everything from the F80/G80 to E92 M3's. I'm heading to the dealer tomorrow to drive a manual G80 M4. That will help me decide if I want to go G80, either manual or Comp. if I don't like it, I may just sit back and wait until I find something that calls to me.

It was everything that all the reviews have said. I was truly impressed. So much so that I placed an order for a 21' M3 Competition in Brooklyn Grey/Kyalami Orange. Now the wait begins, again. Can't wait! Here's some pics of the M4.

Same experience. My 2015 228i M-Sport with Track Pkg and most options ($47,500 MSRP) sold for $21800. Only had 30,600 miles but was $4000 more than CarMax and $5,000 more than Trade In.

No hassle at all. Just filled out appraisal online. Received offer and dropped it off along with title and copies of driver licenses!

Not bad at all. I keep checking their site waiting for my 240i to pop up. Their prices are pretty high so it will be interesting to see what they sell it for.

I've been waiting to try and buy two different M235s on Carvana the last three days. The first is a white convertible, looks to be in pristine condition with 42,000 miles. The $26,000 plus seems about $2000 over what it's really worth, that seems to be the going rate for these cars these days. I'm also looking at a beautiful gray m235 with custom black wheels, not a convertible. About $2000 less, But with 50,000 miles on it.

Yes. Washington Post had an article about the jump in used car prices:

Suppose it’s my turn. I bought a black sapphire metallic on red 2016 m235i 6mt in Ohio on 3/25 for $29,800. It had 27.5k mi, cold weather, driver assistance & tech packages. The off brand dealer was unwilling to negotiate. After we made the deal the salesman showed me a bunch of emails from other people wanting to buy. One offered 2k over asking. I paid original list - $200 they were going to pay their guy to refinish the wheels. They relisted the car for $1k more incase I backed out.

I had a ppi done at a bmw shop nearby & was happy to find nothing major in need of attention. All oem wheels are curb rashed and 2 are slightly bent. 3 of 4 tires are smoked. The steering wheel leather is worn more than I’d like & there is a tiny dent in the passenger door I can probably have pulled. Beyond those items that need attention the car appears solid so far. I hope the info helps.
