spring change - no alignment needed?
i just had my base 228i springs replaced with h&r sports. lowered 1.4" (front) and 1.2" (rear). tech said no adjustments were made to the suspension so no alignment needed. everything should still be within spec. is this correct?

find a new shop, quick! Anytime you change the ride height or change the suspension geometry, you need an alignment. Seriously, find a new mechanic, that's scary he would give you wrong info about something so elementary.

its not like absolutely URGENT. you should get an alignment but not like your car will break down if you don't. The worst is just your tires will wear out faster on one side. I still haven't gotten alignment after i installed coils.. but I rarely drive my car.
ps. what the heck is he talking about no adjustments made to the suspension, you have to pull out the suspension to change the springs. |

yeah, that's what i was curious about. since the 2 series is so new, i wonder if their alignment equipment doesn't have the software for it yet.

Your mechanic is clueless man. I would wait 150 miles and then get an alignment.

Hi
I got my alignment checked abt 4 weeks after H&R springs install. All spot on so no tweaks needed. Good considering check is FoC and only get charged for any adjustments. Tyre wear is fine 4 months on. |

It felt intially under damped but once suspension had settled, it feels to me like adaptive dampers have adjusted themselves to suit the shorter springs. |
