The guy at the shop is telling me I’d have to replace the entire strut. Thoughts? I feel like I could just code off the message and wait until the strut actually goes.

The acceleration sensor is not actually a part of the strut, just screwed onto the side of it. I had to replace one as well.... If the problem is the strut itself as the shop says, that's a different issue. A faulty acceleration sensor leads to a chassis stability error in your idrive and a code (I don't remember which #) when read with a code reader, pointing to the part.


Verify the number but this is the sensor p# 37156871465 and adapter wire p# 37146793848

Take it to BMW first and get them to scan/inspect what is going on and determine whether it's either the sensor or the shock.
