air condition settings
I usually just keep my heat/air controls on 70 degrees, with the air turned on at all times. I then adjust temperature by changing the center control wheel to either blue or red. The thermostat then varies the fan based on temperature, high speed initially then it throttles down when the temperature is met. At least that is the way I've always done it in every BMW I've owned. Today (it got to mid 80's in Chicago), I did the same thing, and the fan would never increase from the lowest speed. If I manually adjust the fan it goes out of auto mode, if I hit the Max-Air button it throttles down to 60 degrees and turns the fan on full, if I adjust the temp up it goes out of max-air mode.
Did they change something here I'm missing (my last BMW was a 2007 335 and it worked fine this way)? Anybody else see this behavior? |

The middle control wheel is supposed to be only to control the center vents fresh air function. IEyou need defrost on but don't want a hot face.

This aircon is the weirdest I have ever encountered.
Everything on auto, temperature left and right the same, and sometimes all of the sudden it starts blowing air at full force out of some of the vent holes (center, or right hand side) during a few seconds before calming down again. And in auto mode increasing or decreasing the fan speed hardly makes a difference. |

i rarely touch the center control wheel. I usually keep it in blue during summer and red in winter.
If I want it to be cold.. i would adjust the temperature and I never turn on Auto unless its really hot. For some reason (maybe cause car is new), but auto temp instantly turn my car into a fridge. If I leave it on manual with fan on lowest setting and turn on A/C then its just perfect. |
