Bavsound Stage One and underseat woofers

So the Bavsound site says you can use these speaker kits on the 2 series with the stock amp that comes with the Hi-Fi system. Has anyone tried that? How does it sound? Will I need the $1,000 amp anyway?

No problem. I only thought to look because me and others on here have contacted Bavsound about their F22 stage 1 replacements, and they;ve consistently said they wouldn't be ready at least until middle to late spring.

I'm guessing this is more a matter of manufacturing and shipping than development. Can the 2 series really be so different that it takes this long to design and tune the components?

I emailed them back in January. They said that they had been developing the replacement, but the delay was because weren't satisfied with what they had developed and had started over at some point, but they were testing new designs. Seems like they are happy with their designs now and are moving to the production phase.

I got three emails from them after filling up my cart but not placing an order. One e-mail asked me what the problem was with the order I didn't place! I wrote back and said the products I was interested in are not yet available. I then got another e-mail saying a real person will get back to me. So we'll see if one does.

Just got a message that they are taking orders and first batches are ready to ship. My problem is, I'm not going to buy it until I know how the speakers work with the stock amp. If I have to buy an amp as well, the package costs $2K!

^ Too right. If you went for the entire set-up, you'd be in the $2.3k range and for us Canucks, by the time you add shipping, duty, brokerage (and of course the exchange rate), you're well over $3.2k! Too rich for me.

I have little doubt that the Bavsound setup with amp will sound terrific but the package does come at a cost. I've been very happy with the Eton/JL Audio combination that comes in at around US $350 total for front and rear replacement and that works very well with the existing HK amp. These are drop in for the HK system. Details at http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1236238

I can't be sure that these will work well with the Hi-Fi system but there are others on the forum who could offer an informed opinion.

Thanks for posting. I did see your original post by the way (I was drawn to your title! Brilliant movie). I may go that route.

Looks like the Bavsound stage one for the 2 series with Hi-Fi is just four speakers. Is anyone ordering it?

Re-installed my OEM subs last night. After having listening to them for about 2 weeks, I'm finding the sound/bass on the "flat" side. Unless I absolutely crank the volume, sounds a little like AM radio at times. It's my opinion that these subs are probably awesome with the Bimmertech amp, but not with the OEM amp.

In any case, tried to return to Bavsound but unfortunately I'm over the 30 day return policy just over ~10 days. To my Canadian friends: caution when ordering these or other Bavsound products, relative to a possible return if you're not happy with the outcome - Canadian customs sat on mine for roughly 2 weeks and by the time I got them installed, I was already at or near the 30 day return limit.

They're up for sale in the members classified.

Thanks for this warning. I bought the stage one speakers but they will not arrive until mid April. I guess I'll stay away from the subs for now.
