had a blackvue 650GW-1CH and it was great. highly recommended. regret selling it with the other car. will most likely look into purchasing it again later along the line.

How does it hold up to the heat/cold? And is it hardwired?

Lukas LK-7200 in the front, Mobius Wideangle ActionCam in the back. Better data rates than the Blackvues for less price, with equal or better heat tolerance. Both are tapped into the fusebox in the trunk off the lighter circuit, so they cycle with the ignition. The front could be left live fulltime, with automatic power-off below a set battery voltage, and auto-recording on movement or impact when stopped.

A clip from last year's vacation:

No issues in the cold but does get warm in the summer months. Yes I hardwired it to the fuse box in the trunk (fuse 147).

DR650GW-HD & Rearview Camera(2CH) hardwired with power magic pro.
No issues with cold or heat car is parked in full sun with sunshade in place at work for 8+ hours (I do have 35% ceramic tint on all other windows, which may help with heat)

How's the ease of installation in regards to hard wiring?

The power magic lets you run the camera when the car is off, right? How long will it let you run the battery for?

Took me less than an hour once I figured what fuse to use in the trunk. There's a good YouTube video on how to install and set the Magic Pro. I think you can set it to record up to 24 hours after the car is shut off. starts at 6 hours and goes in 6 hour increments.

Can't say for cold, as I live in HI, but there is heat all year round and had it for two years with no issues.

The one I have you can set voltage to 11.8v or 12v and timer from 6hr to 120hr in 6hr intervals or always on. I've got mine set at 12 hour and 12V so it runs 12 hours or until the battery reaches 12 Volts whichever comes first. When it's below 30F sometimes it shuts off before 8 hours.

  1. Proof of fault in case of accident.
  2. The officer says "He did this" and you say "I did not".
  3. You want an extra level of security. My front camera can be left active when parked. If it detects motion in the FOV or an impact above a settable level, it saves the 5 seconds of video before the event and the 30 seconds after.
  4. It can record some interesting stuff you see while driving.

This --> The officer says "He did this" and you say "I did not".

Last summer on the way up to the cottage I passed a car. Officer ahead waived me over saying I had passed over the double line. Played the vid back for him over my phone and clearly showed that I had entered (roughly) 50ft before the double line.
