Non-Tech Package M235i

Hi guys. I am just realizing that my M235i does not have the ability to stream music via Bluetooth. Really bummed. I rent cars frequently for work and pretty much every car has Bluetooth music these days with few exceptions - Honda, Mazda, GM, Chrysler, Ford all have it. What was BMW thinking by making a $45K+ car without it?? Really annoying and makes me less inclined to buy BMW if they are going to nickle and dime for these things.

Anyway, i tried using the 3.5mm audio plug (Line In) and it sounds terrible. The bass is very distorted.

What is the best way to get the music coming through the car speakers? I'd like to be able to mount the phone to the dash (via vent mount) so I guess some crafty cabling will be needed.

You freaked me out a bit since streaming is important to me, but I looked it up and it's standard on 2016 M235i models. Three more days......

My 2015 M335, without tech package has Bluetooth streaming. No coding necessary.
iPhone music, contacts my phone calls are all Bluetoothed and it works flawless.
Just enable Bluetooth on your phone and go to the Multimedia in iDrive and highlight your iPhone when car is stationary.

my 2016 is nearly as base a 235 as a Canadian can get and it has bluetooth. works great actually.

You should have Bluetooth connectivity. I do, and I do not have the tech package. You have to pair your phone to the car first. You can also connect with the USB plug for better sound.

Reminds me of how the car comes with Sirius XM and a free year subscription but it cost almost $600 to have it activated, even though the hardware is there.

I looked at the user manual and it shows that I should be seeing the different profiles available on the phone as shown here:

For some reason on my iPhone 6+ the only profile that appears is Telephone.

Any thoughts?

Audio steaming wasn't standard in 2014, got added in 2015+

you need to code 6NS for enhanced bluetooth which will give you office too

Can you please share any good beginner resources on coding? I assume I'll need to pick up a special cable? Also are there other things I should code while I'm in there doing the 6NS coding? Thanks.

I just saw a video of a F30 that has auto folding mirrors when the car is locked. So nice. Any other fun changes I should look into?

Yep!

Successfully coded the following:

VO code for Enhanced Bluetooth (remove 6NH, add 6NS)
Change Active Sound Design to F80 S55 Engine sound
Remove Legal Disclaimers
Display Tire Pressure & Temperaure in Vehicle Info
Show Digital Speed in MPH in Cluster

These ones didn't work:

Close windows, sunroof & mirror from key fob (side mirrors do not open/close)
Enable Sport Display (hp & torque dials are not working)
Change Startup Screen in Cluster to ///M Performance (no impact)
Enable GPS-Sync for Clock (no impact?)
Enable ///M Lap Timer (M_LAPTIMER not present in HU_ENTRY)
///M Logo Startup type (STARTUP_X not present in HU_ENTRY)

Let me know if any questions or any ideas about the ones that didnt work.
