and the little boots the pins sit in are too thick to go inside the connector channels.

i'll probably need to send it back. the design of the cable got me thinking though. i'm going to kid of miss the remote from the cable i had previously

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/escort-a...&skuId=8412372

and i was thinking of buying another one of these, cutting the tips and crimping my own pin terminals on the end and installing it the same way. thoughts?

From the looks of it, I got the same wires you did.
Do you have auto-dimming mirrors?
My car didn't and I tried tapping from the same connections. But it didn't work, So I tapped from the windshield wiper sensors instead and it worked without any problems.

I hard wired mine using the passport kit from Bestbuy you posted. I ran the mute button to the right of the steering wheel under the dash. The power I ran under the door molding to the dash and into the fuse box in the trunk.

Sorry for the late reply. Here's the pics, the pins i got are so short, they popped out when i pulled off the cover lol. But i got it zip tied to the other cord and it keeps it secured just in case i tug on it with the cover on. btw, if you route the wire out from the top, you'll have limited space to where you can mount the radar detector because the wire is pretty darn short.
having trouble with uploading pics. so uploaded it here

thanks so much! sorry taking the pics caused you trouble with the cabling

just to confirm, that connector has 3 pins and you have the ground in the far left black/brown and the positive in the white/red on the far right?

also, if out the top is too short, how did you end up routing it with the cover back on?

So i did this wiring tonight but, for me this connection does not appear to be 'switched', in that the detector is on all the time, even when the car is off when connected as you described. Is that your experience as well?
