I asked a vendor on this forum and was told we needed a Integrated Universal Remote Control. I'm assuming this is for the garage door controls, which I don't need. He says he can't order it for me because my vehicle isn't equipped with this item.
Do we really need a vin # to order parts? Don't care about the universal remote, just want it for the auto-dimming and compass. |

This discussion reminds me of how frustrating it is that BMW packages everything. I liked it a lot more when you could pick and choose the options like I was able to do with my 2012 MINI. I would have been fine with the Sensatec seats in my 228 and I wish I could have deleted the moonroof but I wanted other things in the premium package (including auto dimming mirrors).

+1 the packages are annoying!! The mirror (and the garage opener that goes with it) is about all I wanted from the Premium package but that wasn't worth it =\

I had to have the power seats with lumbar support because of a back issue that prevents me from driving more than a couple of hours at a time without it. That was the primary thing I wanted in the Premium package. As I said I also wanted Sirius, auto dimming mirrors and comfort access. The latter two are things that, once you've had them, you want them in your car after that.

Has anyone figured out the part number yet?
I was shocked to find out BMW (of all companies!) sells a car with a manually flipping mirror. My main issue isn't with having to flip it manually, it's more an issue with visibility and the glare caused by the two panes of glass. Compass and garage door controls are just icing on the cake. |

We get the auto dipping mirror as standard in Australia, but annoyingly, the garage remote isn't even an option at all. Same with the compass, not that I'm worried about that.

Hopefully it will be included as standard later on, because it's standard equipment on everything else in the BMW lineup here in the US now. I'm not paying $4050 for a Homelink mirror on a 228i.

I felt exactly the same way about my 235. That's all I wanted from that package, and so I don't have it.
I'd totally make a weekend project of it if we found the how-tos and what-to-gets... |

What does everyone mean by Auto-dimming mirror?
I hope this is referring to having mirrors automatically fold in? Or am i missing something Because i actually would like to have my mirrors automatically fold in, never got this option |

Naw...it's a mirror that turns a hint of blue to help dim sunlight and also car lights during nighttime driving. I had them on my E92 335i as it had premium package...but the M235i I picked up Monday is fully loaded except the premium package I'm looking to see if I can retrofit the side and rear view mirrors easily. |
