underseat speakers
my 2016 228i has the base or aka hifisystem
I've scanned a lot of threads but i still don't know for sure am i just running 4" speakers in the doors and deck or is there a set of 6 inch woofers under the seat as well? I'm pretty sure there is just the 4" drivers and the focal isc100's are the way to go |

- European base has only 6 speakers : front door, rear and 6 inch subs - Hifi is standard in USA perhaps in CA ? it adds better speakers an amp in the trunk and a central front speaker subs are 8 inch and flat response (it's only a codage of the front unit) - HK is an option for every one : better amp, all five midrange have also tweeters. HK Speakers are all different from hifi and supposed to be the best For Abstraction go to your dealer : if 228i has center grill : it's Hifi. Focal Isc100 is probably the cheapest way to get tweeters and you don't waste anything but it's not the best. Last edited by Grave; 02-29-2016 at 10:07 AM.. |

ISC100s are a good midrange option that's proven to work in the 2-series doors, which have a mounting depth of about 52mm (that's a hair over 2 inches for you imperialists, hehe). That mounting depth figure is your primary limitation for choosing 4-inch drivers of any type: woofer, coaxial, etc. Ideally, door mounting should be done with a spacer/adapter as well to minimize leakage and simplify the universal-to-BMW mounting differences. See this post for a few other options that have proven to fit, as well as options for the subs and amplifiers.

"Focal Isc100 is probably the cheapest way to get tweeters" The Focal ISC100 is not the cheapest way to get tweeters because they cost $150 USD a pair. Any coaxial speaker (of which the Focal ISC100 is an example of, but not the cheapest example of), which generally start at about $40 USD, is the cheapest way.
