Someone on here had a blend mount with an escort detector, and escorts own dashcam also integrates with the mount. It was the cleanest setup I've seen so far, found it buried in the what did you do to your car today megathread

I've seen Blackvue with their backup battery for parking mode recommended on here.

That's me, I have a Max 360 with the M1 camera all running from a single mirror tap power source. They both are attached to the same Blendmount, you order the right one for your detector and car then swap out a bolt for a longer one to accommodate the camera.

Does not, however, support parking mode so if that's a concern for you may need to look elsewhere.

I've been very happy with my Blacksys CH100B front+rear cameras that are tapped into the fuse box for 24/7 recording.

I was considering the Blackvue, had some mix reviews... But looks like still an option that will work with my detector

Yeah I was on the fence btw Escort and Uniden... The escort setup with the M1 was about 1k... Might have to go that route...

You may be able to mix and match, start with Blendmount and see if the M1 attachment would work with your mount. You literally take one bolt out and replace it with a longer one, assume they'd use the same stuff across the board. Power I don't think would be an issue as long as your detector has just an RJ whatever plug and not something weird or proprietary.

What fuses did you tap for this?

I used the front fuse box under the hood on the passenger side. I don't remember the exact fuse numbers but I used a $8 fuse tester from Amazon to see what fuses were still on after the car had been off for several hours (make sure to pop the hood before letting the car sit for hours).

Make sure you don't tap into any critical fuses like central locking, etc.

Lightbulb

I've had several dashcam setups over the years. all have worked well for me although i settled down with the Vantrue N2 pro. There might be a newer one with the same or better functions so do your research. The Blacksys 2ch was fine too but i wanted an interior view and i wasn't 100% sure the camera was working properly as it didn't have a screen so it wasn't the easiest to tell if it was recording. I've used the viofo and it's really good at what it does. i had the 1ch 1080p version but gave it away with my car at sale time.

in all the cases i used the powermagic pro + tapping fuses to hardwire it to the cars fusebox in the trunk. i think i went for the DRL fuse or some lighting fuse in the end. i used a multimeter and turned the car off and tested a bunch of them to see which was still on. Note about the power magic, it's designed to protect your battery but your battery might also complain if you set it to like 12v and get in the car. the car would say something like 'power draw detected, shut off some functions to save power'.

Last thing was to hide the wires! i didn't use this but for some nbt install it came in handy

Here's how the car looks with the dashcam. (ignore the white toll pass, i actually recently put that in the center speaker area. and even better, it's now a sticker and not some bulky white plastic box these days)

Someone, I think Cobra, makes a combo radar detector and dashcam. No idea if either is any good compared to best of each standalone option, but it makes a lot of sense to package them together. Might be worth checking out don't think it was crazy money.

I've had a blackvue for a couple years now with no complaints.

I found a 12v constant wire in the ceiling above the sunroof motor cover and tapped into that with their wire tap deal that wont let the camera kill the battery.
I have the camera mounted on the drivers side, right at the top of the windshield next to the rear view mirror, never gets in my way and is easy to mess with.

I use the Aukey Dual Dash Cam. I run it hardwired to the trunk. Cables are run along the trim to the back of the car and I installed an extra circuit to the fuse panel. Been using it for 3+ years without issues.

Did you have to drill a hole to mount the rear camera, or how did you do that?

Usually the mount is double-sided tape to the rear window and the camera mounts to that.

Ahh, I thought it mounted under the trunk handle.

I'm using a BeAngel unit in the old Subaru that just attaches like that, and the problem I found is that the rear window gets rain/snow/etc on it and then you can't see anything out the rear camera, so I'm thinking about moving it further down so it gets less obstructed by the weather.
