It's the same for the LCI as the pre-LCI, I coded BFD on my new 2018 230i loaner car.. Same parameters as the ones listed..

You must be doing something wrong..
Can you tell me exactly everything and every ecu that needs to be coded please? I will try again.
What are you trying to do exactly, have the main brake lights flash or just the two inner rear fogs, while the main brake lights stay steady?

Under the two folders in FEM folder, if using Bimmercode, change these two parameters below then report back.

The rest of settings is just to adjust the sensitivity.
Okay so it works... sort of. It only works on extreme braking when coming to a stop even though I have activation speed on 5kmh and weak braking. Thanks for the help! Just wish the weak braking and 5kmh actually did something.

Well the idea of Brake Force Display is it only activates when the ABS kicks in, for real aggressive braking. Think of your cell phone flying off the seat when you brake hard, something like that would activate it.

Anything else would just annoy fellow motorist behind you and which I believe is illegal in most US states because brake lights have to remain steady burning, under DOT rules.

If you want to adjust it to the most sensitive setting, code the parameter I listed below under the FEM module.

so _03 is least sensitive and _01 is most? Thanks! I see what you're saying but don't understand what 5kmh and weak braking settings is doing as I see no difference from weak to heavy.

Yes, so_03 is equivalent to 8 m/s2, which is the least aggressive option, keyed to rate of deceleration

The "5kmh" is the minimum distance it activates from the instant you hit the brake.

The stock setting on all European-spec vehicles is actually 50kmh (31mph), which I'm not sure if that's a legal requirement but the gist of the feature is it only activates under heavy, panic braking operation. Thus, the stop lamps would not flash in routine braking situations or as frequent as you would like to have them.

Will try _01, _02, and _03 tonight when it's dark so i can see the lights in the reflection of road signs. Will report back. Thanks again for all your help

_01 completely turned it off for me, went back to what it was (_02)

yeah this is how it seems to be working on my car too even though I coded it to happen under weak braking. glad it least kind of works but I'm with you and wish it would do it more often. seems like on the guy's car in the video it happens with only moderate braking but who knows. I guess I'll have to start downshifting less to slow the car and just slamming on the brakes to make them flash! lol

I'm coding this now. I think the problem some of you had is the SPEED you are setting is at what speed it will start working. If you set to 5mph then if you stand on the brakes at 70mph the flashing wont happen until you're about to stop at 5mph. If you want this to work on the highway you need to set it to the highest speed.

Now I have to figure out how I can test this. I dont think I will notice on reflective signs behing me. When what I'm reading a lot of f22's can easily code the BRAKES to flash but some are saying to have the BRAKES normal and the FOGS/SECONDARY BRAKES flash is not working on F22s.

I guess I'll find out.

waking up this thread as I am lost with coding BFD.

Car is m240 with retrofitted lci tail lights. Wiring & Coding done according to this thread: https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1405431

I have tried every possible option found on this forum to get brake lights flashing with no luck.. Interesting thing that I have managed to code "area enlargement" with rear fogs. Also, I have managed to make fogs & secondary light flash. but changing BFD outputs in REM module to bl_l & bl_r accordingly does nothing. I have played with sensitivity, flashing freq & speed, but it did not help...

Any suggestions? what am I missing ?

Hey I know this topic is from 2018 but I got it and I just wanted to tell you how I made BFD working with custom sensitivity.

In Bimmercode go to FEM, click on expert mode and search for ESS_AKTIVIERUNG_REALE_VERZ. There you can set a custom value but is has to be in hex format:

0x0A (default) = 10

0x05 = 5
0x03 = 3
0x00 = 0

I have set it to 3 and it's flashing nearly everytime i use the brake now, a little bit too much

kind regards
