BMW is stopping production at their Dingolfing plant for a week (5, 6, 7, 8 series) as well as some stops at the Regensburg plant (UKL platform).

The headline here is semiconductors, unfortunate events in Ukraine notwithstanding.
Global auto production will be affected by the chip situation for the foreseeable future. 2024 is the earliest expectation for improvement. |

It sounds like it's just the plant that is shutting down for making new things because of lack of parts. I would think if your car already exists should ship

Would anyone who has an order going through the Dingolfing plant in the near future mind sharing whether you have heard anything about your production status?
I would appreciate it if you can share any updates you may have received. Thanks in advance! I'm interested in knowing, given that I have a Alpina B7 on order that's tentatively scheduled for beginning of May... that I've been waiting for since last July... and I fear that these new developments means I can kiss this order goodbye at this point. I have a customer's 5-series from Dingolfing sitting at the port in Bremerhaven since January 1st that still hasn't gotten on a ship. So add at least two-months to shipping even if your car gets produced.

Same thing at Porsche, in addition to playing catchup from the ship fire they've also shut down plants - 2 weeks for now but who knows.

I can't imagine how miserable I'd feel if I'd been waiting months for my car in the midst of all the current delays and then when its finally on the way it sinks enroute, only to head back in line for them to make me a new one. I always joke about it coming via the same route at the Titanic, but who thinks the ship might ACTUALLY sink????
