Angry Just Outside the Extended Warranty

Got some not so great news today.
  • Wastegate rattle
  • Passenger door latch broken

All right after the extended warranty expired. On top of the dreaded 50+mph vibration. The dealer kept shrugging their shoulders on the vibration. They "concluded" after several visits and new tires, it is a bent wheel. I'm not convinced.

Sigh . . .

Most likely a rear tire issue if the sensation is in the seat.

I had a rear trunk latch issue out of warranty. latch mechanism had to be replaced.

I suspect I might have a waste gate rattle. What does yours sound like?
is it a nasty metallic rattle, only during high throttle / heavy load?

It is highly possible. It shouldn't take the dealership five tries to figure out a wheel issue. The tech that I took out agreed that it was more drivetrain/powertrain related. He couldn't do anything since the car was still on tires slightly under spec. Getting new tires, went through rounds of balance, rebalance, returning tires for warranty, balance, rebalance, and then all clear and good by the. Only to come back to say, it's a bent wheel does not instill confidence. The whole experience was sour.

Since I'm now out of warranty, I'll hit up my indy shop or start troubleshooting it myself.

Hmmm . . . the best I can describe it is a continuous metallic tick. When the car is cold, it's VERY noticeable. Once it warms up, it is slight and annoying. Mine is at idle, during lift off, and under acceleration. According to the dealer, I can ignore it until I start to lose performance.

Edit:

Here are some videos:

Thanks for posting. That's very different from my rattle. Mine's only during throttle/load.

Good luck with your repairs.
