Are down pipes interchangeable between 230 (B46) and M240 (B58)

Hi All,

I have done quite a bit searching with no avail.

Long story short - I'd like to attempt installing Dinan's M240 full exhaust system on my 230ix.

My main question is if the down pipe for the M240 will fit on the 230ix turbo?

I understand that the muffler fits and the mid-pipe will require a custom mount. Anyone with any insight into this project - I'd love to hear about your experience.

All the best!! Thanks I'm advance.

The downpipe is the pipe from your turbo to your midpipe, it's not interchangeable

You mention muffler and midpipe which makes me think you meant midpipe and not downpipe. It does not fit unless you are willing to make modifications to the pipe to get it to fit.

It's best for reliability and sound to get a system that was designed for your car.

Thanks for the response Mike - sorry if my explanation wasn't very clear.
Basically because the 230/240 share the same exhaust pipe diameter, I am trying to do a custom fit of the 240 exhaust system onto my 230 which is a project track car.

Sound/reliability are not really a concern - I am looking to increase the performance with a full exhaust system and stage 2 tune, but unfortunately where are no full systems for the 230.

What I know is:
- 240 muffler is a direct fit to the 230 (brackets and pipe diameter match). I am not worried about the different tip location because the back end of this car I am fabricating a custom diffuser.
- 240 mid pipe will work with custom mounting (pipe diameter matches).

What I am left trying to figure out, is a downpipe that will directly fit to the 230 turbo, but accommodate a slip connection to the 80mm diameter 240 mid pipe.

Unfortunately the b46 downpipe is not a slip connection to the mid pipe. I am more than willing to cut/weld/modify in any way to make this work as it is a project car for track use only.

Any insight is greatly appreciated folks!
