Rear differential fluid

What do they use in BMW rear differential fluid that makes it so expensive??? Unicorn tears?

Seriously though, I'm looking to do the rear diff fluid on my m240i. It's a non LSD. Can someone confirm this is the right rear diff fluid part number? BMW-83222295532
Certain sites have multiple genuine BMW rear diff fluid options so I just want to be sure since it's so expensive. 60 bucks a pop...

Go to www.redlineoil.com and click on "find products for my vehicle." You'll see a lube for the differential. Redline makes some of the best products.

I'm probably going to stick with OEM but just wanted to be sure I had the right part number before I ordered it.

That appears to be the correct part number, as shown in these realoem diagrams:

My decision to stick with OEM fluid

1. Not good to mix GL-4 with GL-5 -- unable to get all the old fluid out
says stay with OEM Fluid.

2. GL-5 has been found to be acceptable in our cars because the differential in
our cars do not achieve high enough temps to release the corrosive GL-5
additives. Not willing to bet on temp range ~ Check another win for OEM Fluid.

3. Found (2) highly respected users of the F-Series platform say stick
with OEM fluid.

I purchased the over priced OEM fluid.

Redline Fluid GL-4 WAS MY 2ND choice MT-85 -- probably the better Fluid.
