Stage 2 and Bolt On's

Not sure did this question belongs here or in the Wheels/Tires section, but have a question for anyone that have gone stage 2 or above. I recently upgraded to stage 2 with full bolt-on's, and the car has a very hard time keeping traction due to the increased power in the lower gears. How are others resolving the traction issue? Wider tires, softer compound tires, suspension? Anything else I should look at?

My current set up is MPSS 255/35/19 for tires. Wheel set up is 19x9.5 with 50et offset. Car is at stock height. Not sure how much room I'd have to go wider tire set up. might be able to pull off a 265 tire but not sure about rubbing on the shock cover.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

I take it that you don't have any LSD. I had traction issues with the stock power. Two years after owning the car, I installed the LSD and it improved traction immensely. I'm now running around 370whp/380wtq and I don't have any any traction issues. Sure, I can spin then a bit in 1st or around a corner in 2nd if I'm too aggressive, but beyond that, traction isn't much of an issue.

Without a way to tie the two rear wheels together and distribute power away from the tire that slipping, you'll have always have an issue. Wide track/street focused tires are more for lateral grip than straight line.

Thanks for the input. Guess I'll have to see if I can find an LSD as that seems to be the culprit.

What PSI are you running? I'm not familiar with 19s, but I know that I'm using non runflat tires that require a lower PSI. Running them too high gave me traction issues.

35 sounds a bit high (high 30s when warm) try dropping it down to 31/32psi.
I did some reading on this last night, and the general consensus was they like lower to mid 30s psi.

Will give that a go and see if it helps. Thanks

Late update. lowering the pressure did help. didn't help that one of my tires was wearing low due to alignment. will be getting this fixed soon and hope to have some new rubber all around.

Interesting, I am running the same setup and wish my tires would break free easier. Maybe I need to turn DSC/DTC all the way off more and see. Maybe its the nannies ruining my fun again! I am looking at suspension options too just to make the car more like a scalpel and less like a couch with 400hp.

It's definitely the nannies ruining your fun. Turn it all off and I promise you will lose traction
