GFB DV - Spring Required?

Hi all,

I am about to install a GFB Diverter Valve into my n55 m235i auto.

I understand the middle spring is optional and makes more of a difference in MT cars.

Those with the ZF8, did you install the spring? I've heard some people have had boost cut problems installing the spring with the ZF.

FYI - I plan to run BM3 stage 2 + e30 max for now.

Help would be much appreciated!

I would suggest not installing the additional spring especially on the bm3 E30 map/stock turbo with an auto trans. When the auto shifts in wot, the throttle plate doesn't close and the dv should not be opening. The main reason for the upgrade is to replace the OEM valve diaphragm so you don't have the chance of tearing it and causing a boost leak. The additional spring is to help transient boost which would help manual guys out more when having to lift the throttle to shift.

I have the dv+ sitting and a Turbosmart on the way (installing this first ha). I would also like to know what is up with the boost cut/fuel type problems with the stiffer spring/Turbosmart dual port. I have read about others experiencing this and maybe a custom tune could alleviate these problems as the valve is not opening/closing the same as a stock dv because of the increased spring pressure.

I have the dv+ on my m235. I did that and ngk plugs gapped to .2 at the same time and I'm having some problems. Also bm3 ots 93 map right now. I have like a studdering problem in low rpms and like mid-high rpms. I'm told it's maybe the tune (from seeing others complain). Now that I'm hearing from the second post that the spring could be a problem, I'm going to have that taken out and see what happens. Following the post.
