This took place in stages, because not everything was available initially. Each time one of the HK components was replaced with a Bavsound component, there was a noticeable improvement in the sound, and when the final component, the subs, were installed, I found the overall sound to be excellent.

What is relevant to your question is that the amp had a pre-installed DSP program that worked so well that, even though I had acquired a microphone and planned to do some tweaking, I decided I was better off leaving it alone. According to someone at Bavsound I spoke to, the DSP program was tuned for the 2 Series using the Bavsound stage 1 speakers and ghost v. 2 subs.

I would recommend that you call Bavsound and ask whether this program, or perhaps another Bavsound program, would be right for your car and the Bavsound speakers you bought.
Really appreciate your answer!
I checked, and it looks like Bavsound is working on their own amp and no longer sells the Bimmertech. I guess I'll have to wait on that.

Regarding speakers, I ended up finding a used set of Stage 1 and Ghost Subs from an F30 sedan (clearly 2 extra speakers for rear doors which I dont need). I managed to install but was NOT a perfect fit, as I for some reason thought they would be. Subs were loose and the front mid magnet was too large. I made it work though with some creativity and it actually sounds pretty friggin amazing, honestly. So, next step is an amp to power these properly.

HUGE TIP for any attempting DIY install: disconnect your batter before you do anything and only reconnect when EVERYTHING, including your seats, are all back in place. Otherwise you dash will light up like an x-mas tree like mine did, chock full of warning lights.

I can confirm the MATCH UP 7BMW works in my 2018 F87 M2. I just received the amp today and quickly installed it in about 20 minutes. I didn't have enough time to fully tune the DSP so I just loaded the BMW limousine sound file from the Audiotec Fischer website as a base line (they don't have sound files for coupes). Even with that generic tune and the center channel running, I can say the sound stage has vastly improved. I haven't changed out any speakers yet so it sounds kind of flat; I'm hoping a full blown tuning session will change that.

BTW, I'm surprised my 14 year old POS Windows XP laptop worked at uploading the sound file. I hope it handles the tuning session with my MiniDSP UMIK-1 hooked up as well.

My system will be upgraded further with a JL 10W3 in a Musicar enclosure powered by a JL XD300/1. Those parts should be here tomorrow. I'm still undecided on the rest of the speakers in the system.
Hi. I’m trying to load the standard sound file for a limousine but it keeps asking me what app do I want to use to open the file which is in some weird format - aspx I think. Nothing seems to work with it am I doing something wrong?

Did you download and install the DSP PC-Tool software?
https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/d...ool-version-4/

Also, read through Audiotec-Fischer's Sound Tuning Magazine for info how to tune your system. DSP Special Vol2 is based on version 3 of the DSP PC-Tool software, but it still applies to version 4.

I did install the DSP PC-Tool software - that was no problem. But when I tried to download the standard limousine profile it kept asking me what app did I want to open the file with.

I have tried reading the Sound Tuning magazine but for a complete novice like myself it seems incredibly complicated. Is there any chance you could send me a sound profile that would get me started? I am replacing the underseat subs with these:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/302454019661?ul_noapp=true

Here are their specs:
• 20 cm (8”) Bass-Speakers
• 180 Watt RMS / 300 Watt MAX.
• Impedance 2 Ohms
• Frequency Response 30 - 300 Hz
• SPL 88 dB @ 1W/1m
• 50 mm (2“) Voice Coil
• Glass Fiber Cone, Nomex Spider
• Mounting Depth: 31 mm
• Mounting Diameter: 192 mm

I have replaced all the other speakers as follows:

Front centre - Eton B100xcn
Front Doors - Eton B100w
Rear Parcel Shelf - Eton B1000xn

Would you have a sound profile that would suit the bill? Something that would get the best out of the subs with their frequency response of 30 - 300 Hz.
Also where should the gain adjustment be set on the amp itself? All the way down as suggested in the manual or all the way up as you see mentioned on many forums.
I would be very grateful for any expertise you can share with me.

Are you double-clicking the aspx file trying to get it to open?

First, before you start the DSP PC-Tool software, you have to connect the amp to your laptop.

Next, start the DSP PC-Tool software. It should show your amp connected.

From the main screen at the top left, you click the "load" button. Then browse for your aspx file. That's how you load the sound profiles to the DSP.

My sound file would probably not sound very good with your setup because I have different speakers and I also have a 10inch sub in the trunk handling all the low bass.

As far as the gain, I would leave it set as it is from the factory until you are more comfortable tuning the system.

You should probably see if you can find a Brax/Helix/Match dealer close to you to get some help tuning the DSP correctly.

Thank you - that was very helpful. Yes, I was double-clicking the aspx file trying to open it! I will follow your instructions when I get the amp and see how it goes with the standard limousine profile.

One more question! When I do have the system up and running with the Match Up7 amp using one profile or another, what are you meant to do with the tone setting on the IDrive? Do you just leave the Bass and Treble at the midpoint and do all your tone adjustment via the amp software or can you adjust the idrive settings as well?

This whole thread has been inspirational. My plan is to first replace the amp in my M235i convertible (with HK system) with the Match Up 7 BMW amp and run the RCA for the sub so that is ready if needed. If just the amp/DSP doesn't produce a satisfactory change, I will move forward with swapping speakers and adding a sub. Question for Dirtboy: why did you choose to disable the center channel? I have an E90 with the Harman Kardon Logic 7, which I love. The center channel in that car is not just a summation of the left and right (as it is in my F23), it is instead receiving whatever the Logic 7 surround sound processing sends it. My thinking has been that the Match Up 7 DSP would use the center channel in a more intelligent way so that it would actually be a good thing rather than what it is now. Was that not your experience?

I'm using the center channel with H&K and Match7 and lovin it.

Real stage with the center activated.
Many people like stereo more than surround so they deactivate the center channel.

Hey Dirtboy. Why do you think that the various sites (including Crutchfield) say that this amp is only compatible with the HiFi system therefore not the M2?
In my research I have found that the head unit on our cars can be recoded. I was told that the HK coded HU has some EQ before the signal heads to the amp. Are you aware of this? It can be changed to HiFi using E-Sys or Bimmercode. Thoughts?

No coding necessary on 1 or 2 series H&K.

The 1 and 2 Series H&K is only analog and 3 series upwards is digital over most.

Therefore the match 7 amp is working plug and play on 1 and 2 series H&K.

I understand what you are saying. That it is plug and play. What I am trying to say is that the HK amp I believe puts out a different signal than the HiFi amp. This is due to different programming. I believe that the HiFi setup puts out a cleaner less adjusted signal. Therefore if you use E-sys and change your HU setup to HiFi from HK you will get better sound. There are about 6 choices btw.
It might be worth a try. You can change it back if you don't like the sound. The only slightly annoying thing is that you have to redo your presets each time you make a change!
Hopefully this is clear.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner; work has been kicking amy a$$.

Everything that I've read on the HU programming (and it hasn't been much) has said that all the "tuning" of the different systems is handled in the factory amp. I don't think there's a need to switch the HK coding to HiFi in order to get a good signal to the UP7. I left my HU coding to HK.

match UP&BMW

Hi Dirtboy. my first post, wondering if you can send me pictures of your sub-woofer set up. I am having a hard time setting up the sound set up and get bass. I have 2 bavsound under seat subs and the Match UP7bmw amp with the limousine sound set up, but not getting much bass.

Do you have the 2 ohm version of the Bavsound subs?

At the moment busy upgrading my car! One question; what’s the best place to leave the cross-over filters in the front doors?

Great posts here. You have done what I have been attempting but have just replaced the speakers with Bavsound underseats and Eaton speakers.

Iterested in more about how the sub install went and power amp and exact sub? Did you just buy this one?

I bought just the Musicar enclosure and installed a JL 10W3v3 in it. It's powered by a JL XD300/1v2.

Hi guys,

I have the match up 7 with focal speakers for front doors and rear pillars, and eton for the central HP (keep OEM subwoofers). Do you think it is necessary to connect the amp to the battery ? Should I expect a quality improvement in the sound ?

Also, I'm a not specialist for audio tuning, is there a website that explains how to use the DSP tool ? Because it sounds strange for now, voices are too loud and central speaker too.

Thanks
